La pierre à aiguiser fonctionne bien, le grain 8000 permet vraiment d'avoir une belle finition. J'utilise cette pierre avec un autre modèle de la même marque (400/1000) et avec ces deux pierres, j'ai réussi à bien aiguiser mes couteaux. Je n'avais jamais aiguisé à la pierre à l'eau avant, c'est le prix relativement peu dispendieux des deux pierres qui m'a poussé à essayer et je ne le regrette pas du tout. Vu le prix je ne pense pas que les pierres auront une durée de vie extrêmement longue, cependant pour les débutants je pense que c'est suffisant.

I would have preferred the 1000/6000 stone but it does not come with the flattening stone. I think it would be better if they both come with this. As for sharpening, you should watch the many good videos on You Tube before using your stone. There is a learning curve to doing this to become proficient. It takes practice and patience. I had a question about the e book that comes with the stone, and my question was answered promptly with additional suggestions.

I'm fed up of having blunt knives in the house and having tried various shapening methods to no avail I thought I'd have a go at the old fashioned method using a stone.

I've watched various institution videos and after my first attempt I reckon with practice I can crack it. Patience is a virtue. As for the product itself, it's good quality, very good and I'm well impressed. The after sales service is also really good, some very helpful information follows on after you buy the product.

If you have never used a stone before don't expect immediate results. It takes practice but I did see an improvement quickly. It's a skill that has to be acquired, the product doesn't give it away but it is very forgiving.
