Product Description

For a multimeter, the Plugable USB-C Amperage and Voltage Tester (USBC-VAMETER) manages to fit a lot of useful features into a sturdy little package. About the size of a USB flash drive, this bidirectional USB tester allows for full USB data passthrough while it monitors USB-C power and charging, measures voltage and amperage, even visualizes the directional flow of electrical current–all in real time.
Connect the VAMETER inline between a USB-C host system like a laptop, tablet, or cell phone and a charger to use it as a USB voltage meter or power consumption meter. An updated OLED screen means a brighter and easier-to-read display in any lighting conditions, and a new orientation button lets you flip the screen with a click.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2024Verified PurchaseI use this when I need to repair a device that has possible power or port issues. Has a nice display to tell you how many watts and amps the device is drawing. Can also push the button on the side which flips the screen the other way for easier reading. You can also use a standard usb to usbc adapter to check usb devices. I wish it came with some sort of small bag to put it in so it doesn't get scratched. Other wise the ratings on this are up to spec. Mind you, it will not turn on if the receiving device is not trying to draw anything or has issues.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 13, 2022Verified PurchaseIt's probably ok but I need USB C for testing MacBooks. Not sure how I missed the fact it wasn't USB-C but anyway 20 bucks wasted on my own shoulders for not being cautious enough.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 20, 2018Verified PurchaseI'm starting to get into battery chargers that use Power Delivery (PD) to charge laptops, and I wanted this device to help me learn more as I go forward - and in case I need any help with those battery chargers not working or not supplying enought power - this would help me to see that.
THE GOOD: The device is very small. Very compact. Easy to store anywhere. It only take a couple of seconds for it to boot up. It will boot after you plug your USB-C power cable into it that you want to measure the current from. The display is very easy to read. Legible, bright. When the device is off you can't even tell there is a screen there. . It will appear as a mirror until it is powered on - this is normal. This is just like smaller audio players you get from China that use this type of OLED screen as it save power and works really well
DOES IT WORK? I have a power hub that I use to charge all my electronics that shows the current amperage to each device. This USB stick seems to match pretty well exactly to that when showing the amps. Also, it keeps track of how much power has gone through it to your device. This is really a great feature when you know the capacity of your battery and want to know how full it is without turning your electronics on.
Packaging was very small, a cardboard box, and a ziplock bag with the device in it. No waste here, well done.
The voltage shown on the device combines the voltage going through to your device, and the voltage needed to power this USB stick.
CONCLUSION: There are no negatives to this device. Works perfect. Shows exactly the info I need. Measurements match my other devices so I know it's accurate. For the $ it's definitely worth it! FIVE STARS!

- Reviewed in Canada on October 1, 2018Verified PurchaseI wanted to be able to monitor if my devices properly negotiate USB PD and what profiles they choose to do that. This USB-C multi-meter does this job remarkably well.
The screen, although small and very reflective, remains legible and adequately bright (see attached photo). Measurements seem accurate and the refresh rate is sufficient. It worked with all my USB PD 3.0 devices (iPhone, Macbook Pro, Anker PD Powercore...).
I can't attest to its compatibility with all the USB-C protocols listed in the description (I strictly use it in a no-data set up).
At 25 dollars, this is not very accessible. But considering the prices of competing devices, this seems like the best bang for the buck.
The only drawback I found is, while this gives the total charge that goes through (in mAh), I doesn't provide total energy (which I find to be a more relevant indicator). You can do a simple calculation to get it but it remains annoying.
It also does feel a bit flimsy but if you don't rough it up too much, it should last.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very useful tool to aid in fixing USB-C products
Verified PurchaseAfter seeing this used by repair folks on YouTube to monitor laptop operation, I purchased one when my laptop died.
It was very helpful in aiding the diagnosis and will come in handy for other USB inquiries. It is well worth its nominal cost. I also like how the display reverses at the press of a button so it can be seen in either of 2 directions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent & useful device.
Verified PurchaseThe display is easily readable & reversible, unlike most others. 😃 It's easy to read & shows Voltage, Amps, & Watts plus direction of current.
Despite some comments the display does remain on in all situations. 🙁
We use it connected to a dual Wi-Fi phone charges & it gives a great insight (using Samsung phones) as to the charge which is set stops at 85%)
The information is easy to read & the build quality is fine. 👍

5.0 out of 5 stars Kompakt & funktionell
Exakt was es soll. Da alles aus Kunststoff ist würde ich es aber nur ruhig am Tisch liegend verwenden da schon alleine aufgrund der Gehäusegröße die Robustheit begrenzt ist.
