5.0 out of 5 stars Anyone with a Salt Pool that cares abouth their chemistry, this is the one.....
Verified PurchaseProbably a hair overkill for the laymen, but if you want to know you pool water chemistry with accuracy reserved for high school science lab, this is the kit. This kit has testing for 6 disciplines, two of which can be tested two ways, for a total of 8 tests. If you picked the 6 you need, it would be over a hour of testing. That's a lot to ask our family guys to do. With that being said, the four that make this kit for me are the free chlorine, salt, pH, and CYA. Hard to find more accurate results without going to the agricultural industry and digital meters (Apera). This is the 1 Oz. sample kit. They make a 2 Oz. kit. Don't get it unless you are going in to the aquatic water testing business. The reagents in this kit will "expire" before I can use them all. The 2 Oz kit would waste even more. The kit is so accurate, it defeats it's own purpose. With a chlorine generator set at 15%, our salt pool maintains a FC of 5.5. Pool chemistry 101 states to get your CYA (stabilizer) to 50-80, and your Free Chlorine should be maintained at 7.5% of your CYA. I haven't had to touch it. After 4-5 tests in a row with no changes, the kit will sit on the shelf, probably until next year, when the reagents "almost" expire. We use test strips to confirm everything semi-weekly. When we have has increased swimming activity, I will hit the boost on the chlorine generator. I set it to provide 12 hours of extra Chlorine to maintain the 5.5 PPM of FC. For those with chlorine generators, the set percentage is the amount of hours out of 24 it will run. 15% = 3.6 hours a day. The algorithm in the Hayward Aquarite splits up the day and spreads the 3.6 hours throughout the day. Multiple sunny days and swimmers needs 20% on the chlorine generator setting. That's 4.8 hours out of 24 it will run. Needs it. Sun kills free chlorine. So does sweat, sun tan lotion and the dreaded urine.
You can't go wrong with this kit. I imagine if you are considering it, you are serious about your water health. This will allow anyone to dial in their pool, spa or any other body of water they care about. Taylor is the #1 maker of water testing kits. You can get lost and confused on their site. Use the search.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate, Reliable, and 100% Worth the Investment!
Verified PurchaseThe reviews were right—this testing kit is top-notch. When I compared the results to those from my local pool store, they were spot on. Yes, it feels a bit intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of the process, it’s actually very straightforward. The instructions are clear, and the results are easy to read. If you’re serious about maintaining your pool, especially with saltwater, this is absolutely worth the investment. Don’t rely solely on the pool store—take control with this kit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well and has all the tests you need.
Verified PurchaseFirst just to clarify, this test does come with what you need to do chlorine tests - there are 2 different methods and this kit comes with the FAS-DPD two part method [mix in powder first then the reagent].
I regularly use it to test chlorine and PH and have used all the other tests at least once. Easy and accurate.
My only compliant is that the amount of reagent for the CYA test is low, you need a lot do that test. Consider getting a bigger bottle of that w/ this kit.

1.0 out of 5 stars 4 bottles were to expire within the month of purchasing
Verified PurchaseI have learned that this is not a product you should buy on 鶹. 4 of the bottles were to expire in the month I purchased this kit. I contacted the seller to let them know. They offer me $20 discount. Each bottle was an average of $14 to replace so I opted to return it & bought the kit at Poolgeek. This test kit is awesome and has really helped me to understand the water chemistry better. Just don’t buy this kit on 鶹 cause, shelf life is important to these kits, you should get a year of life or run out before the year and replace bottle.
