Leaking Blotched Mess That Wipes Or Scratches Off. Leaking and Late.

Leaking Blotched Mess That Wipes Or Scratches Off. Leaking and Late.
I don't know why this isn't returnable now but I'm quite unhappy with it. It arrived leaking as the liquid had eaten the paper seal. It took over a month to arrive so I guess that is how I missed the return window. It just went on in blotches on freshly machined surfaces. I did scrub it clean with acetone. In the spots it went on well, I was able to wipe much of it off with a paper towel and what didn't wipe off came off easily with a fingernail scrape. Took a long time to get here too.

I purchased a new base for my new Tikka T3 and it turned out to be too long. The base is anodized black aluminium but was too long, I cut the base and used this product to turn the fresh cut and shiny aluminium black. The product worked perfectly for me.

A better alternative to using spray paint or markers to hide those ugly white letters on Umarex air pistols

Just make sure to scrub the area with an old toothbrush with rubbing alcohol or solvent de greaser.
Apply with a Q tip and watch it darken to an almost black, like 90%

If the pistol is made of an aluminum alloy, then I tend to use this in combination with Suber BLUE from Birtchwood ,

Worked well. I started using it with a paint brush, then used a Q Tip. I found I needed to saturate the surface, not lightly dab it on. It didn't "magically" repair scraped parts, but it did blacken the devets. I was hoping for magic, but don't we always. It may [definitely] require more than one application. 3oz will go a long way, I believe. Definitely would recommend.

This product is a waste of money, doesn't do as intended. Follow instructions to the letter...apply and watch nothing happen. Any colour change that may occur, can later be wiped off with a soft cloth. After several attempts, give up and apply paint. 45 years as a machinist/gunsmith and tried with a number of different aluminums. Recommend to not buy the product. One star awarded as there's no provision to give a lower rating. Will return item.

The product does hat it claims to do, blacken machined aluminum parts and pieces. I milled a new trigger guard from a large round of aluminum stock for a rifle. Highly polished, the aluminum trigger guard blacked fairly nicely with various applications.

So many things are no longer made of steel that used to be and aluminum is now a component of many of them. The trouble is that as the cost of aluminum has risen, more parts that used to be made of it are now made of alloys containing other non-ferrous metals like zinc. BW Casey Aluminum Black Touch-Up works only on pure aluminum in my experience and though heating that part improves the uptake of this agent, results on aluminum alloys are spotty at best.
