    This arrived in time and was exactly like the previous one I had, or so I thought. It was different in colour but that’s no biggie. However, it NEVER worked! Right from the beginning. There was absolutely no reason for it not to. I had my hubby try it as well cause I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Nope, still junk. The return window was small and I’m not used to there even being one. I did email them the same day I realized that it didn’t work at all, never heard back from them though. Tried again, nothing. They even included a very pretty card that said to email them if there was any issues. Not sure what for cause clearly they won’t get back to you. Now I have a piece of plastic basically.
    Hope everyone else has had better luck.

    I have what I call a "Black Thumb" and kill most of my plants. This water meter has really helped me understand my variety of plants more. I've found that during the winter months, my tropical plants are actually too cold and overwatered and have been able to adjust their location to keep them alive! My compost bin has been much emptier since learning how to better take care of my plants. Who would have known that i was giving my plants too much water!

    Pro tip - put some gravel at the bottom on your plants to help with drainage and helps avoid root rot.

    How hard is it to water house plants? You stick your finger in the soil. If it's dry, you add water. But I found out that many of my plants were dry on the surface and wet further down. So that explains how some of them were getting root rot. This is so easy to use. Stick it all the way down in the dirt while watching the meter. Then you'll know if you need to water or wait. I've had it a year and it still works great. I won't be without one, it's that useful.
    PS I left it out once and it got soaked in the rain. I thought it was ruined. I shook what water out of it that I could and set it in the sun to dry. I turned it over a couple of times while drying. At the end of the day, it worked fine.

    I first bought this as I was having trouble determining which of my houseplants were drought ridden and which were too moist. I’ve lost too many plants due to overwatering and under watering and not knowing which is which.

    Well, this moisture meter has been a lifesaver. I’ve had countless moments where I’ve checked my plants soil with this meter and (despite the soil seeming completely dry) the soil has been saturated underneath! It’s so difficult to tell just by visuals and having a feel of the top layer of the soil alone but this moisture meter really helps set in stone what your plants need.

    Since getting this moisture meter, I haven’t lost a single plant to any watering issues and it’s helped me get such a better idea of how often I need to be watering my plants.

    I’ll never go back to having to guess whether my plants need water.

    I took this soil measurer out of the box and measured all my indoor plants with it. It showed me moist for all but one, it showed the moisture level to be in the dry zone, which I suspected, hadn't watered it since buying the plant on Sunday. I wiped it after each measurement with the cloth that was included and it seems to be exactly what I needed to stop over watering or under watering my plants. I would definitely recommend to anyone that has plants indoor or outdoor. Would purchase again.

    I am a chronic underwater because I have nightmares on a regular basis of root rot. I always have dirt under my index finger nail from sticking my finger in my 70+ plant pots to see how dry they are. I do feel I am watering more now that I have a “spy agent” that can probe deep beneath the soil and tell me exactly what’s going on under there. You do need to wiggle it a little bit once you’ve stuck it in to get a fully accurate reading, especially if the soil is on the dryer side. Simply sticking it in may not give you a reading alone. Make sure to twist it back-and-forth or tip it a little bit. I do feel as though I am somehow violating my plants with this thing… be careful not to destroy too many roots while probing, some plants you should wait a couple days before watering after destroying roots, as those can rot if you immediately water rather than allowing them to callous over a few days. This gadget can help you get a better schedule in place knowing how long it takes the soil to dry out.
