Great! my snake isn’t used to digging, so she doesn’t, but i’d still say that she enjoys it more then other bedding we’ve used. Pleasant aroma, strong at first.

We use this for our reptiles and it works great. The blocks swell up huge when you soak them. We have isopods in the lizard tanks and they seem to like it. I do not notice any weird smell. It just smells earthy.
5.0 out of 5 starsConvenient… easy to prepare… my favorite.

A really great product. I soak it inside an old pillowcase in my kitchen sink and then squeeze out excess water…. So easy to prepare and the dried blocks are so much easier to store.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with these bricks! My pets seem to be happy with this substrate. I used it in tropical enclosures. My live plants also seem to perform well in it, despite having no additives. I do have springtails and isopods in my tanks. The bricks expand when wet. The only bad thing to say is make sure you go through the soil. You may find small stones. I did find a rusty nut, presumably from the machines they use to grind the materials, once. For that, I'll have to take off a star, but I still really like the substrate.

This is my go to substrate for my snakes. It comes super compacted and by adding water, mixing it, and letting it dry (if you want/need it to be dry). I mix mine with some bioactive stuff I get from a friend and this substrate goes from a tiny little brick to a ton of soil! You get a good amount in each brick and the substrate itself is soft and is able to hold messes that occur in the terrarium really well. When it's completely dry, it does tend to fly in the air and can make you sneeze but I just turn on my air filters to take care of it. I do recommend getting a large sheet/box to dry it in if you need it compeletly dry or need some dry soil asap.
