Using this for my 20 gallon tank because my leopard gecko is an escape artist. The mesh is very sturdy, it can handle the weight of my light no problem. Compared to this, exo terra covers look flimsy. It was a little bit of a tight fit - my tank is about 30 1/2 long because it’s a zoomed tank - the old top used to slide in, so the sides are a little longer. However, the metal sides of this cover are a bit flexible, I could bend them a little bit to make room for that 1/4 of an inch. It is very snug, I would recommend to measure your tank, if it is more than 30 1/2 inches long, this won’t fit. The good quality and the fact it has a door for easy access justify the price to me.

    We use it on Herman's 20 gallon long aquarium. Fits perfectly! Wish the clamps were sold with it, had to buy them separately. Fits perfectly but a motivated snake (Herman!) would be able to push it up.

    Unfortunately the door "lock" broke within a month of using. Might have been a good thing because after reading some other reviews something more robust is a good idea anyway. As you see in the picture we use a bar across with twist ties on either side. The mini handcuffs are purely decoration because I'm sure Herman could pick the lock with a bobby pin anyway. :)

    This is great for is you have an animal that won't be actively trying to escape, I have a planted terrarium with a crested gecko, the lid is good for keeping him in, but crickets seem to escape, and now that I've had it for multiple months I see what a few others have said about the "door" or hinge rusting, since I spray the tank throughout the day.

    This is a must-have if you have a terrarium for your pet reptile and need heated or UV lamps that tend to get hot. Most standard terrarium don't come with metal lids that can withstand hot lamps. This one fits perfectly if you measure right and closes around the top make it decent seal for your pet and maybe it's food like crickets, etc. Cleaning is easy and the structure is way better than flimsy screens or plastic.     This cover is perfect for my purposes and was not warped or damaged.

    I'm knocking off 1 star for the design of the locking mechanism of the access door: when twisting it to "locked" it hits the top of my aquarium, and presumably any typical aquarium that has a plastic frame around the top, making it kind of pointless. It's just too close to the edge. I would NOT recommend this cover if you're housing anything that could climb up to the door because it will absolutely push its way out.

    However, if you have fish (or a burrowing invertebrate that cannot climb glass) this is a nice lid.
