- Reviewed in Canada on June 19, 2024Verified PurchaseFor years I’ve paid little attention to the concepts described in this book. The reason was that they weren’t explained by other people in a way that let me apply them. Finding this book has changed all that. The concepts are clearly explained and easy to follow. I’m applying them on every shot. I’m not standing over the ball hoping to execute. I’m planning to execute. Reasonably competent golf is now within reach.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 22, 2023Verified PurchaseNo shade towards Bob Rotella and golf is not a game of perfect, but zen golf is next level. The clarity of focus this book can bring on the course is unmatched.I listened to the audiobook in one day then shot the personal best score I've ever posted.I bought a physical copy for re reading.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 11, 2020Verified PurchaseGreat read. Changed my perspective of the game. I used to get angry and upset with myself out on the course. Loved to hate the game. After reading this book I enjoy the game so much more and I am playing better as well. Not sure if the improvement is mainly from reading this or the extra practice I've been putting in. Nevertheless, buy it, read it, enjoy golf. Ps. It's not just about golf. It'll change your life perspective as well. If you allow it to.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 29, 2002I bought this book because it had a quote from V J Singh on the cover. Singh endorses this book. Singh has been concentrating on the mental side of the golf game. For the amateur golfer, the first thing to do is groove a swing, and develop short-game skills. After that, there are dozens of sports psychology books waiting for you. I have read about 10 of them, and most of them gave me the same feeling, as if I was reading the same thing over and over. This book was a bit different. I felt that the tips were very basic, but a couple of them have really helped me on the course. They have probably helped me more than anything else that I have read. I would say that there were about 6 very good tips/thoughts in this book. And probably 2 of them will stay with me for the rest of my life.
One lesson helps you for when you hit a bad shot. Usually, I would get upset, and my mood probably wouldn't get better until the next time I hit a really nice shot. This book teaches you a very simple method which has helped me to not get upset on the course.
One note: to be honest, I don't think that the book has directly helped me hit the ball closer to the pin, or to play smarter. However, it has helped me enjoy each shot more, and I definitely do not get upset on the course, anymore.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 18, 2020Verified PurchaseIn almost all the examples of behaviours and character traits used the demonstrate what not to do, I saw myself in the pages of this book. The great thing about that is the antidotes he so eloquently yet simply uses to describe how to prepare, act and respond to the various situations we all may find ourselves in playing this beautiful game. Now, it's time to read it a second time. Later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Auf dem Weg zum Single-HCP
- "Prepare for your shot as best as you can. Have as vivid an image as you can and settle yourself as much as you can. Then commit to it with body, mind and heart, Like the pig in a bacon and breakfast."
- "Take your best shot and be ready to deal with the results. Pre-acceptance means taking the attitude that you can handle whatever results you encounter. This reduces fear of unwanted outcomes, meaning less interference with making a good swing. And that means a higher percentage of good results. If you accept the possibility of having to scramble, you’ll find yourself scrambling a whole lot less."
Schönes Spiel!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book has changed my way of playing golf, in a positive way
Verified PurchaseThis book made me realize the importance of the mental aspect of golf. I am reading it for the second time, right after finishing a first read. I am a lot more relaxed on the golf course now, and more positive. As a result, my swing is better, more regular, more relaxed. A MUST read.
