This is a really nice headphone amp. I do think there's room for improvement but overall it's a very solid choice for a headphone amp and dac combo.

Pros:
- Very clean sound
- Very good bass boost option that doesn't muddy the details
- All metal premium feel
- Buttery smooth volume control
- Fixed RCA out. I also use this as just a dac for an old stereo
- RCA and Headphone out simultaneously
- Nice design, not just a plain box like most audio equipment
- Option for external power which makes it work with things like phones or a raspberry pi

Cons:
- No on/off switch so mine is just always on
- The included USB cable is way too short
- At this price I think it should have more inputs besides USB (Coaxial/Toslink)

My only other note would be on the bass boost itself. It would be great if there was a level in between off and on as it's usually too strong for my headphones but that's not really a complaint of this product as it would be a perfect feature for other headphones.

The dac/amp however is a fantastic unit, sounds awesome driving my Sennheiser HD6XX (650). Also sounds amazing connected to a Valhalla 2 tube amp.

I purchased this DAC in order to stream music in "Master" quality from Tidal. It has the ability to unfold MQA files and present them in Hi-Res and Ultra Hi-Res. The listening results are startling. There is a marked clarity and pressence to the music and an emotion to vocals that in the past went unheard. Listening to Joni Mitchell or Dionne Warwick, for example, reveals a genuine girlish quality and excitement in their voices that can gives me the chills. Listening to "Horowitz on Television" left me with my mouth open. If you stream Tidal or want to process all other types of Hi-Res files (flac and DSD) this bargain of a DAC is highly recommended.

You won't find another DAC/amp combo with MQA support at this price! The lack of remote is annoying if you, like me, are picky about volume. The lows are strong but the highs lack a bit of clarity. The coloured LED to show sampling rate is cute, but obviously a proper digital display is easier to read. Despite these minor shortcomings I would have given it 5 stars except for the stupidly short USB3.0 type B cable. Sitting on top of my full tower, the cable would not reach the USB ports in the back! Using an uncommon connector and giving people a 1-foot cable was a poor choice, I shouldn't be forced to buy a new USB cable with a device. Just use USB 'C' already!

I've owned this DAC for over 6 months now and listened to it daily, so I'll get right into sound impressions.

What I initially noticed was how tonally balanced this DAC sounds. Bass is slightly dark, like a wave of warmth washing over you, but retains a good amount of texture and rumble. Mids aren't recessed or forward, just right where they belong. They come off as slightly dry at times, but this can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the music. Highs are well controlled and nicely balanced - very detailed with nothing missing but there's a slight grain present.

The V2 sounds open despite having a slightly hazy background. Textures and transients have snap and lots of detail. The soundstage is moderately wide with good depth - not the best but not the worst. There's even some slight saturation effect at signal peak levels, like how the distortion in a tube amp alters the sound. Overall these effects combine into a fun sounding DAC, a tastefully done wall of sound that keeps you engaged. The DAC begs to be turned up, but beware of listening fatigue.

I have no issues with the build quality, everything feels great and works as it should. I don't use the bass or matching features, but they sound good for what they are.

The power supply is the weakness on this DAC. Don't bother with the overpriced iFi iPower brick, pick up a $35 Meanwell power supply instead. What really helps this DAC is an LC power filtering stage in between the power supply brick and the DAC itself. You can build this yourself if you're so inclined and you'll be rewarded with snappier bass and a clearer, less grey background.
