I like this product, it is easy to clean and cooks perfectly fine. The coating, however started to peel off where the lid touches the pan.

Zojirushi has been a very trustworthy brand since my mother's age. And I grew up using zojirushi brand. Yet, it can be quite expensive.

We have tried using the deeper pan for hot pot several times already. And my partner and I love it so much. It heats up very quickly and the pan is easy to clean.

We are planning to use the shallower pan for sukiyaki.

We totally recommend this brand and this model, especially for those families who have tiny kitchens.

Simply a reminder that there's no warranty for this product. I received a defective product with the lid knob broken, I did not want to return it as everything else was in good condition. However, after contacting the manufacturer trying to get a knob replacement, I got an email explain that this model EP-RAC50 is not authorized for use in Canada, replacement parts and warranty coverage is not available when used in Canada.
Otherwise, the product itself is large and works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for hot pot/ crawfish boil and light searing

We love Zojirushi products. The products are always high quality and always worth the money.
I got it like new condition as it was surprisingly available faster. It came almost new with no damage, maybe just the packaging was bit taped over.
We love the product and use it regularly for making hot pots and making crawfish voile etc. The coating is high quality and it is easy to clean. We just use Mr. Clean products for avoid any scrubbing to avoid scratches. The products heats up pretty quickly and very evenly. It shows research and engineering gone into Zojirushi products.

The product was so good that I ordered another one, the larger model, for larger gatherings. Unfortunately we cannot use them together as it tripped our circuit breaker due to overload. So kind the wattage and use the parallel equipment on same breaker accordingly.

    Pros:
    1. Great product of high quality and standards. Non-stick coating is high quality and stands up over consistent use.
2 . It heats very evenly and uniformly.
    3. Easy to clean and store.
    4. Magnetically attached cord is just genius idea. We have a dog and kids as visitors. Even after with precaution, near accident happened but the cord just detached simply and all was good.

    Cons:
No major cons but mind that the product is 1100 W (at max power heating) so will take most of amperage on the circuit breaker. So we cannot use mutuale of these products in parallel, at least on same circuit.

I only use this for hot pot, but when dorming in college I ate many a meal cooked in this type of device by a friend. With that said, I haven't personally used it to cook eggs, vegetables, beef etc., although knowing how it works I can say it is an outstanding piece of equipment that is capable of pretty much doing every thing you would need short of being an oven. You can fry, you can steam, you can boil etc. It it is big or wide enough to do more than one thing at one time. If you are a college student that likes to cook, but doesn't have a stove this would be ideal. Very awesome indeed.

I primarily use it for hot pot. The temperature is easy to control and responds very quickly to your selection. I didn't think I would like it being so wide and shallow because most hot pots that I have used are deep. There is a benefit to it being wide. 1. It heats faster because the heating area is wider. 2. You don't have to dig trying to find something. 3. It allows for you to spread out or strategically place your items in the pot vs. just throwing them into the abyss. 4. It is not crowded when eating and resulting in no chopstick fights between table mates.

I didn't think I would like it because of how wide it is, but as you can see there are advantages. I must also say that even though it is shallow compared to the average hot pot, it probably holds more volume because of its width. If you fill it up, it will be enough for at least 4 people. Zojirushi makes excellent products. This is yet another one.

    *Update* May 2, 2014

It has been several years since I reviewed this product. Everything is still working fine. I did manage to break the lid while moving and it cost roughly $50 to replace. Note to self...lid will not survive fall down flight of stairs. However that is not why I am writing this update. I just found out today that this product makes very good POPCORN. Sure you can do it an any old pan, but this where it being super wide and having a glass lid comes in handy. Just melt a little butter on low then throw in the seeds, crank up the heat and put the lid on. Voila. I can't believe I didn't try this before. I certainly didn't buy it to make popcorn, but darn this product just continues to amaze.

    We love this Electric Skillet!!

We cook with it several times a week. We bought it in 2012 and it is still working 14 years later. The heating element now seems to put out less heat and the pans are scratched, but it still works. For these reasons, it is time to replace it so we bought the same model. Fourteen years of constant use is more than we could have hoped for. This is well made.
We like the magnet power cord that will disconnect if it is accidentally pulled on - this saves a mess on the floor. We like that the non-slip coating is ceramic rather than Teflon. Years ago we broke the glass cover, but that was easily replaced at low cost from Job Lot.

This is an excellent electric skillet. We use both the shallow and deep pans. It does a great job with vegetables along with chicken, steak, and ribs. It braises the meats perfectly - which cannot be done if you bake in the oven. We have no need for the steamer tray.

I cannot see how any electric skillet could be better than this one.

Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2016

I've only used mine 3 or 4 times, so I cannot comment on durability. I've had other Zojirushi items and so had high expectations of this. So far I haven't been disappointed in the least.

    Positives
+ Removable cooking "pans." Easy to wash. Easy to transport from cooking area to table or refrigerator.
+Two pans. Shallow pan for bacon, eggs, pancakes or whatever. Deeper pan for pot roast, soups, stews, traditional Asian dishes, whatever. We've got a roast in the deep pan-refrigerated-tonight, but I can cook breakfast in the other tomorrow morning.
+Even heating. Whenever I cook bacon on the stovetop I am careful to cycle slabs from center to edge and back to get each evenly done. This in spite of using a good quality thick gauge skillet. Not needed with this. The pans are pretty light weight, but the cooking disk that stays with the base distributes heat very evenly.
+Longer cord than most. Like just about all appliances the user is cautioned not to use an extension cord. There are entanglement issues and the like but I am personally comfortable using a good quality cord of 14 gauge (or better, 12 gauge). 1350 watts is less than 12 amps at 120 volts. Most surge protectors are 15 amps and many are long enough to serve as an extension cord. But you just may not need it in the first place.
+Temperature control slider that is easy to adjust and spread out enough you can learn position well enough to be repeatable. You can adjust it with one hand without holding the pot steady. But consider negative, below:

    Negatives:
    -For many--Made in China.
-The temperature slider is easily adjustable, perhaps easy to inadvertently adjust.

Update: 22 March 2016. I really like using this. I fry bacon, eggs, stir fry, pancakes--you name it. Heat is evenly distributed and temperature is repeatable. Cleanup is super easy. Exception: If you get food outside the removable pan it falls into a relatively inaccessible "groove" that is hard to get at. If the inner bowl were removable this would be better. So far I've been able to clean whatever fell in just using the corner of a dishrag.

I mainly use the shallow insert, but I've made stew using the deeper pan. Did I say I really like this?
