This inexpensive and long lasting purchase was an experiment, one that I will be repeating as long as I have millet eating critters.
The order came much quicker than expected.
The millet is used as a special treat for all 3 babies.
A little is sprinkled around bunny's cage so that Jax and Spot can search them out overnight.
The blocks are made by making a thick oatmeal slurry, letting it cool, and spreading it on a cookie sheet, cut into squares and placed in the oven at 180 till dry. They do crumble easily but are perfect for the treat needed for training where just one bite is an adequate reward.
Echo, the Quaker/Monk parrot yells Yum-Yum, Yum-Yum... constantly when anyone else has food presented, so he is getting his fair share whenever the bunnies get theirs.
I have read a review that mentioned little stones. The bunnies do not seem to mind and since we people are not eating it, the little stones do not present a problem.
I have ordered a second bag for my daughter's bunnies. I do hope your babies enjoy this Yupik millet as much as mine do.

5.0 out of 5 starsI normally purchase the millet on the branch, but that becomes too expensive when there are three mouths to feed.Bunnies and Parrot Love this millet!

- Reviewed in Canada on September 20, 2016Verified PurchaseI've ordered this product a number of times over the last two years and have never had a package that contained anything but millet, no chaff, no weed seeds, or anything else that isn’t millet. I can’t say what others may have found but for myself there has never been anything other than millet seeds.
I have had issues with Yupik bags, there have been a number of times when the outside of the bags was sticky, a very thick sort of sticky, almost as if the plastic itself was coming apart.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 2, 2024Verified PurchaseThe Millet was very bitter due to oxidation and improper packaging. For the purpose of cooking it can be washed to remove the bitterness but for the purpuse of making a flour for bread the bitterness stays inthe final bread.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 29, 2020Verified PurchaseI buy a lot a lot of dry grains and beans. Before cooking, I always check for stones or other debris and rinse the grains. I recommend that everyone else do the same. To do this, I spread the grains/beans out on a white plate and comb through them before dumping them in a strainer for rinsing. It doesn't take very long.
Yupik's dry grains are reasonably priced on 鶹. They also tend to have few stones. This isn't necessarily a deal breaker. A bag of Yupik oat groats, for instance, might have 3 stones. But one needs to be careful and remove the stones before cooking.
This millet, however, has WAY more stones than that. My last bag had around 15 stones--all of them unusually tiny (about the same size as the millet grains themselves). I'm not exaggerating about the quantity. Perhaps this bag was an anomaly. But I don't think this level of quality control is acceptable.
I felt obliged to write a review because this is the kind of product that many people will just dump into a pot without thinking about it. Check for stones, people. I love millet--but I'm going to be searching for another brand.
