Product description
Music brings joy to so many of us. And for pianists what we play can become the soundtrack to our modern lives. Since how, when, and where we enjoy our piano can be personal depending on the player, the simplicity of the Yamaha P225 makes it the most approachable and user-friendly digital piano for everyone. Beginner and intermediate players will find the touch and tone perfect for their repertoire, and the portability of the P225 means you can take it on those coffee-house gigs, or bring it to the cottage with ease. The Smart Pianist app gives you a modern user interface to access all of the features in the P225 while the Rec N Share app allow you to record your practices and performances directly to your smart device. This makes sharing to your social media platforms quick and easy!
Top Brand: Yamaha
From the manufacturer

Compared to its predecessor, the P225 features a much shorter and thinner body design with a compact style.
P225 features the sounds of Yamaha's premier concert grand piano, the CFX, and this model uses Yamaha technology to replicate the expressive tonal changes that occur in a real grand piano.

Newly developed Graded Hammer Compact keyboard offers a realistic playing feel
One of the main concerns of piano players when purchasing a digital piano is related to the feel of the keyboard when they plan.
Some of the things that players are specifically concerned with included whether they can feel the weight of the keys in their fingers as with a weighted acoustic piano keyboard; whether the keyboard will respond accurately when they play quicker passages; whether there are any inconsistencies between how hard they play the keys and the sound that results; and whether the keyboard offers a sufficient soft-to-loud dynamic range.
The GHS keyboards used in the P Series thus far have received high praise from customers for the excellent balance of ease of playing that was mentioned above.
The newly developed and more compact GHC keyboard on the new P Series reproduces the playing comfort of its predecessors in every way.
Further, the keyboard unit is more compact than in previous models, while still offering an outstanding playing feel.

The sound of Yamaha’s premier concert grand piano, the CFX
The P225 gives you the sound of Yamaha’s top-of-the-line CFX concert grand, with shimmering highs and powerful lows. This model is equipped with Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite, a digital technology that realistically reproduces the complex resonance produced by the strings of a grand piano, changing each time according to how the keys are pressed. With the P225, you can enjoy the sound of a concert grand that’s played and loved by renowned pianists, along with its infinitely realistic resonance. Of course, this instrument doesn’t require tuning.

Place the instrument wherever you like, or even take it with you
One trouble that plagues pianists is that the traditional piano is often too large to fit into a room. To add to this, piano players can’t take their instruments out with them. The P225 provides a brilliant solution to these problems. The stylish design of this instrument blends well with any room and is available in black or white color variations to match the mood. With the optional soft case, you can take this instrument with you to the studio, to live gigs or on a trip – whenever you need it.

Practice with headphones – whenever you want, as much as you want
One of the greatest advantages of a digital piano is the ability to practice while listening to what you play through headphones. This solves the problem of not wanting to disturb family members or neighbors when you play, not to mention eliminating the need for them to hear you’re playing when it’s not at its best.

Stereophonic Optimizer
When using headphones, the Stereophonic Optimizer lets players enjoy the dispersed sound heard when sitting in front of an acoustic piano. With the Stereophonic Optimizer, Voices sampled from acoustic pianos appear to come from the body of the instrument. This provides a comfortable, natural experience that removes the drawbacks of performing with headphones.
Recording, metronome, and rhythm functions to make your piano practice more fun and effective
If you’re wanting to listen to your playing objectively, or to practice only your right hand along with what you play in your left hand, the recording function is just the thing you need. Also, we recommend using the metronome if you want to practice along with a fixed tempo. If you get tired of playing alone, rhythm accompaniment is also available in genres such as rock, pop, jazz and bossa nova. This also offers a great way to learn genre-specific rhythms.
Play music from the instrument’s speakers via Bluetooth audio
The P225 features built-in Bluetooth audio, which lets you pair this instrument with your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet to listen to your favorite music through the instrument’s speakers. You can also play along with the sound coming from the built-in speakers. An external adapter is not required.
Minimalistic design that recalls the feel of a grand piano
With a design that pays homage to the classic aesthetic of a grand piano, the P225 blends well with the interior of any home, and is intended to offer the player the true feeling of playing a grand.
Button-style interface that makes it easy for anyone to use
This model uses physical buttons rather than a touch panel, making it easy for anyone to operate the most essential functions. Aside from piano sounds, we have carefully selected only the most frequently used sounds, including keyboard instrument sounds like electric piano, and harpsichord, as well as strings.
Access features with ease using the Smart Pianist app
By linking the P225 with Yamaha’s ‘Smart Pianist’ app you can intuitively perform all operations on the P225 from the screen of your smart device. There’s no longer any need to pull out the manual to see how things work.
When connecting a smart device to the P225 you can either use a cable or connect wirelessly using the Yamaha UD-BT01 (sold separately, for iOS only).
Practice with 303 free pieces of classical sheet music
The Smart Pianist app mentioned above comes with PDF scores of 303 classical pieces for practice such as Bayer, Bugmüller, Czerny, Hanon and more, which you are free to display and use on the screen of your smart device.
Easily record sound and video, and upload your own performances
If you want to take a video of your performance and share it on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, Rec’n’Share is the way to go. Connect the P225 to your smart device, and record both video and audio at the same time to complete your video.
*A cable connection is required.
Sound Boost function for bringing out the sound of the piano
Have you ever been in a session with a band and felt that your sound was being overpowered by the other instruments and getting drowned out in the mix? Worry no more – the P225 is equipped with a Sound Boost function that switches to a punchy and powerful sound for such situations.
The P225 offers new settings for enhancing the instrument’s sound as you play and record, while audio data plays back on your smart device. Use this feature when you record using Yamaha’s Smart Pianist app or via Rec’n’Share.
Dedicated optional stand and three-pedal unit available for a more authentic performance experience
For those who want to really play the piano instead of enjoying it casually on a tabletop, we offer an optional L200 stand and LP1 three-pedal unit that provide the same features as you would find on a grand piano (including a damper pedal that supports half-pedaling).
Using the stand provides stability, proper height, and correct posture when you play, and adding the sustain pedal lets you enjoy a more authentic style of performing.
Easy to assemble
The optional stand can be easily and safely assembled, when purchased separately. When purchasing the dedicated stand, please purchase the L200, which is compatible with the P225.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 12, 2024Verified PurchaseI listened to many electric pianos. To me, the primary grand piano sample sound is just excellent. That's all I care about and don't use many of the other sounds. The action feels a little stiff, but for acoustic piano players- this should feel quite normal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Estoy segura que hice una buena elección! :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the extra $200 compared to the Donner.
Verified PurchaseThis is the best piano you can find at this price.
I recently returned a similar electric piano brand that was $200 less than the p-225. The donner was very basic with no piano options although it did have a furniture stand. The donner also had a closing key door which is why I chose it first. But I am very happy I switched to the Yamaha.
The Yamaha p-225wh far out performs the other less expensive electric pianos in this price range. For one it has Bluetooth and can serve as a Bluetooth speaker for your phone. The different piano voices are amazing. It has grand piano, electric piano, organ pianos and many more. It is not the same as a real grand piano in the feel of the keys but they are weighted. Honestly if I were blind folded I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between this and a grand piano. But i am sure a professional could.
In conclusion, the donner has the stand included (Yamaha sold separately) and is slightly better in appearance. But the Yamaha is a better piano with better speakers and sound options.
