Good quality amp for the price.
With the purchase of a new 4K t.v. I had to retire my beloved Marantz amp which was limited to 1080P. This amp can pass thru up to an 8K signal. It has all of the newest bells and whistles including things like Dolby Atmos. I don't find it as powerful or as warm as my Marantz amp for music but still very good and delivers strong audio for movies and newer TV shows with high end audio. This amp was on sale and had a payment plan with no interest which made this a no brainer purchase. Great amp for the money.

    After trying various things for a few weeks, I have figured out what the issue was: the HDMI cable! Beware, if you want eARC to work correctly, you must invest in a good quality HDMI 2.1 cable that is no longer than 5 ft. The 6 ft Silkland cable I bought alongside this AV receiver that claimed to be fully 2.1 compliant was just not quite up to the task of passing through a 4k 60Hz signal, 5.1 channel "enhanced" audio, and the command signal. The 5 ft Green Jizz cable I replaced it with has so far not once failed to work. I will leave the old rant up as a warning as to just how frustrating setting this up can be if you try using an inferior HDMI cable. Also, subwoofer signal cable quality should not be overlooked either! I was having issues with the subwoofer hissing or just not turning on until I replaced that cable with a much better quality shielded coaxial design cable.

    Now that everything is working correctly, I can say that this is a decent quality AV receiver. It has plenty of options and settings to get the sound profile you're looking for out of it. The YPAO-R.S.C. microphone in particular makes getting the most neutral sound possible for your room and speaker selections very easy. I would say that the amount of amplification power is disappointing, but that seems to be a common problem all modern AV receivers have. The settings menu doesn't work when you're using a smart TV as the video source, you have to switch to one of the other inputs before you can make any changes to the unit's settings.

    OLD REVIEW:
    If I were reviewing this solely on sound quality, I'd be an easy 5 stars. However, the main reason I wanted a new AV receiver was for the multiple HDMI inputs and eARC control. With sound and video seemingly randomly not working on startup and dropping out whenever I switch apps on my smart TV, I just can't recommend this receiver. I'll keep trying different settings and cables, but so far, nothing has worked. The receiver just doesn't seem capable of handling a 4K video and surround sound signal at the same time. The only times I've had it working was with 2-channel audio. It works great when I bypass all the HDMI connections and use the optical input instead.

    I'll update my review if I can ever get eARC working better, but if not, I might just have to return it.

    I'm partial to Yamaha receivers to begin with and the RX-V6A doesn't disappoint, though the setup is kind of oddball, but it works. I am very pleased with the new look. The sound is great for the size of the room I have it set up in and the multiple digital and analog inputs is great, no complaints. For the price a lot is packed into this model. I'm very happy with it. Networked and Wi-Fi are great, as is Bluetooth, no issues with connections to the internet. I highly recommend the RX-V6A.

    Purchase the Yamaha V6A after getting the V4A for my basement for my PS5 Loved the interface and the sound quality and fell in love with how well the app functions work The reason I got the six a for the living room is because I have wired speakers out in my backyard that my old stereo was running The surround sound in the living room and independently the speakers in the backyard now because I have the four and the six I can play the same music in sync on my surround sound in the basement and the living room and out in the backyard awesome for whole home parties not that I'll ever do that but it's awesome for it
