This weed rake performed better than I expected. It didn't get snagged and pulled out a lot of weeds with every pull. It only works for the length of rope, and the length provided is about right for my pond. Pro tip - tie the other end of the rope to your other wrist so you don't throw the whole thing into the water (oops - thankfully the rope floats so I could retrieve it). Two things that would improve the design - the square tubing holds water when you pull it out - it should drain better ideally. Also, I would think it should have grommets in the holes in the metal tube where the rope is tied, since after a while the rope will wear and break there. So far, so good.

Good build quality. All parts are there - it requires some assembly but it's pretty straightforward. The design of this tool might not be the best for all conditions. First, it must be clarified that the blades of this rake are not sharpened at all, so the page title with the word "cutter" is a bit misleading as it pulls but does not actively cut. That being said, the tines are sturdy and they do rip weeds out as you rake. Because they are wider, they do not dig too deeply into the mud bottom. This can be a pro or a con depending on your goals. It won't reach roots to remove them as well as a skinnier tine, but it also won't get stuck as easily. If you're trying to get lily pads out, it helps to sort of jerk it along the bottom so that it pries the��rhizomes��loose. Note that it will catch on solid things on the bottom like an anchor would, so if you have lots of rocks it might not be the best option as it will sink to the bottom (as it is designed to do) and get caught. This is one of many tools required in an arsenal for attacking aquatic weed problems. it won't solve everything by itself but as a bottom rake it does a decent job. Add a cutter blade and a surface rake to your toolkit and all three will help take care of even the worst problems.

This weed rake comes with everything you need to clean up the weeds in your lake or pond. You must assemble the rake, but it comes with everything you need, including two mini wrenches for tightening the bolts and nuts. The rake is made of sturdy metal, so it should last a long time. The rope you tie on to the rake is very long and of medium thickness. However, you’ll want to make sure your knot stays tied, or it could come apart. My friend suggested putting a ring clamp around the two pieces of rope right after the knot, to prevent it from untying. We then covered the ring clamp with tape to prevent accidentally catching anything with the clamp. Tossing the weed rake into the water is fairly easy. Even if you played minimal sports, it isn’t that hard. Hold the end of the rope in your non-dominant hand (or tie it off on something secure), then with your dominant hand, grab the rope a couple feet from the rake (whatever feels comfortable for you, provided the rake is off the ground). Now swing the rake back and forth a couple of times to build momentum. Then on the forward swing, release the rake into the water. You can now start slowly pulling the rake back to shore. It will dredge the bottom of the water, hooking weeds as it is being pulled. Once the rake is back on shore, the weeds are easily removed from the rake’s tines. They even give you a green net bag to put the weeds in. Once the weeds dry, you can dispose of them easily, or put them in your compost. Because the rake is only about 16” wide, it is easy to pull. However, it doesn’t cover a large area and you need to make several passes to get most of the weeds. You won’t get all of them, but you’ll definitely thin them out. Depending on the size of water and the amount of weeds you have, it could take a long time to clean up your water. But if you’re vigilant with the dredging, the amount of weeds you have will decrease.

My brother in law has a cottage in a small inlet off the main lake. The lake is shallow here, and he constantly battles debris and growth of plants, weeds and bulrushes in the water.

I brought this up for him. It was easy to assemble and throw.
It did a good job of clearing debris and growth.

As the summer moves on he believes this tool will help greatly as the growth of aquatic plants accelerates. He is hoping it may also clear bulrushes which also tend to become more intrusive throughout the summer

The rake is solid, and came with the tools to assemble it.

This is a specialty tool on the expensive side, but it does what it claims to do. It is built solid and should last for many years. It does dig into the mud and sometimes gets snagged. This is because we were trying to use it in an area that wasn't well maintained. It did a pretty good job thinning out the weeds and sure beats dragging an old, rusty bedspread around.
I would recommend this if you have a little waterfront that has been cleared of rocks and any possible sunken logs, branches or other debris. It works best when the bottom of the lake is not too muddy and not too rocky.
It was a lot of fun throwing it out into the water and pulling it back out. A good workout too!

I ordered the 16-inch black steel, double sided aquatic weed rake with 30-foot rope from the YiViKPE Store.

This aquatic weed rake is shipped in two pieces and includes the necessary bolts, screws, and wrenches to assemble quickly. The rake is made of a heavy, durable steel with a nice black finish to help prevent corrosion and includes a 30-foot rope and a weed net bag.

The rake is heavy and will dredge on the bottom as you pull the rope back, thus snagging aquatic plants, weeds, grass, and other debris. Many passes will be required to remove plants and other debris. I also used this rake to remove pieces of wood on the bottom and retrieve a gardening tool that was dropped accidentally.

The rake is a bit on the heavy side, which makes tossing a laborious.

Item was packaged very well as shown in the photo's. Even came with small wrenches so no other tools were needed. However there were no instructions. Had to go back to review the picture on �鶹�� to assemble and glad I did as I had the rake portion backwards. The rake itself appears to be of good quality. However the purpose of the rake is to drag the muck and algae and after 1/2 hour of using it, the rope was cutting into my hands and had to put on a heavy pair of gloves. Some type of handle or another rope material instead of the nylon would be beneficial. Never used the bag but I would suggest replacing the bag with a handle would make the rake more practical.

Item was packaged very well as shown in the photo's. Even came with small wrenches so no other tools were needed. However there were no instructions. Had to go back to review the picture on �鶹�� to assemble and glad I did as I had the rake portion backwards. The rake itself appears to be of good quality. However the purpose of the rake is to drag the muck and algae and after 1/2 hour of using it, the rope was cutting into my hands and had to put on a heavy pair of gloves.
