4.0 out of 5 stars Decent pruning gear for hobby gardener
I've been expanding from houseplants to outdoor plants, and using my tiny scissors for pruning has become challenging after working on 20+ plants. I came across a pruning shear and scissor set and I'm interested in trying it out, hoping it will make pruning easier and faster.
The product arrived as shown in the picture. I was a little disappointed because most of the text on the packaging is in Spanish, with only three warning sentences in English on the back. It wasn't too bad as I could figure out the meaning of most of the words.
The blades are sharp, and I was able to snip off wilting leaves and deadhead some of my flowers with ease. I also used the pruning shears on some of my fruit trees. They can easily remove many of the stray branches, most of which are about 1/4 to almost 1/3 inch thick. It was easy to cut them off. I also tried to see if the shears could take out an inch-thick sugarcane, but the cane is pretty thick, and it was much more difficult to cut through. The rubber part was comfortable too, there was some grip to it so the shear did not accidentally slip out of my hands.
I noticed a few drawbacks with these items. Some plastic pieces were not properly trimmed, and while I wouldn't mind if the plastic were soft, the protruding bits were sharp and could potentially cause injury if one is not careful. Fortunately, I had a filer that I used to smooth down the sharp edges. I also encountered some difficulty with the safety switch. I found that if you don't fully push the switch toward the blade and keep the green top of the switch even with the black side, it will be easier to move the switch back and forth. However, if you push the switch further past the black part (toward the blade), you can feel a noticeable switch, which I like to call fully close. After that, it will be harder to unlock the blade. It's understandable that this safety feature is important if you have curious children, but my mother has arthritis, and it will definitely be an issue for her if no one is around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent enough, tend to stick closed
These pruning shears are definitely mid-range quality, with plastic/rubber handles and fairly decent blades. For that quality, they're definitely a fair price.
They work just fine, and I'll definitely be putting them to work often in my garden and orchard, especially pruning or harvesting annual vegetables; however, the straight pair has a maddening tendency to stick closed after cutting. They open up again just fine, it's just annoying.
Overall they're decent enough, but if you have a little extra money I'd find a better quality pair of pruners with less plastic components and more likelihood of lasting longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice set of pruning shears.
I always seem to hold my shears too long. They are dull and then I get frustrated when I’m trying to clean up the garden. I tossed my old ones as soon as I ordered these. They have a nice rubberized grip so they don’t slip from your hand. Both also have locks to keep them in the closed position. The shears themselves are sharp. I was able to trim all the dead flowers and stalks from my garden. I use these two types of shears interchangeably. I’m not actually sure what the difference is between the two other than the shape of the cutting portion. I’m very happy with them - until they get dull!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Shears...
This pair of garden sheers/scissors is nice.
Pros:
Has nice rubber handles.
Sharp blades
Strong spring
Seems well made and pretty sturdy
Cons:
The safety levers are hard to pull down and release the blades for use.
On the front of both tools there is a small black plastic piece that is sharp and can cut you. This should have been sanded and smoothed out.
Overall a nice set for the garden and small shrubbery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Grips, Bright Color, Seem Handy to have
This Vine review is for a set (2) of pruning shears. They're black with bright lime green handle grips and the lime is pretty bright which makes it easy to pick out when looking for tools. However if outside doing pruning work the green may have been a color to leave out and consider something like a neon pink or some other bright color not so camouflaged if set down on a grassy area.
The grip seems comfortable and not too hard to use. I like that these have a safety lock so the blade can't cut someone accidentally unless the trigger is moved to open the blade lock. I still wouldn't leave these laying around when youngsters are in the home.
These are small shears - the size of medium sized scissors. I think they'd be most used for tough flower branches for arranging flowers, or somewhat skinny branches - like really skinny. The blade portion on both is only approx 8 cm or 3 inches. The whole pruning tool is only 20cm or 7.5 inches. All of the writing on the packaging is a different language - I think Portuguese but am not sure. I think the seller would find having more of the description in English would appeal to a broader group of buyers.
The shears are slightly different. One is straight like scissor blades and the other is curved like to fit a branch into to prune.
I'd most likely get these for small home pruning tasks like flower arranging and trimming small pesky branches around the outside of the home. They seem fine.
