An economical alternative to a cable replacement.
I ordered this Z Bend wire stop for the chute deflector cable on one of my snowblowers. The cast Z Bend broke (Briggs & Stratton deflector chute cable: P/N 771734). That cable assembly cost over $96 after shipping and taxes, and my machine was out of service for 5 days while I waited for the part. There were two unanswered questions at the time I placed my order (1) The coated chute wire is about 5/64 inches (1st photo), which matches the stated hole size in the product description (2nd image). (2) The broken Z end is 10.74mm -2.42mm gap, or originally unbroken around 8.25mm. The YGQ Z end is only 6.7mm so will it hold being about 1.5mm short? The answer to question 1 is 2 parts. The cable entered the collar, but not the hole in the Z bend (3rd photo). I drilled out the hole in the Z bend with a 5/64" drill bit, and the cable is now well seated inside this wire stop. There are two set screws: one requires a hex key (provided) and the other a Philips screwdriver (not provided). This Z Bend shortens the cable by about 5mm, and I might be able to accommodate that at the other end of the cable assembly with the adjustment bolts. The answer to question 2 is to be determined. It will fit the hole in the handle, but the question is whether it will stay in place when I am out working, or with the set screw, keep the cable secure in the wire stop. I am inclined to believe that the tension on the cable will keep this Z-bend securely in place. I will have to wait and see about the set screw. The bottom line for me is that I now have two deflector chute cables and the ability to replace other broken Z-bend wire stops on two different snow blowers economically.

    Habe ich mir gekauft, um den gerissenen Bowdenzug der Rasenmäher-Kupplung zu flicken. Da hier doch gewisse Kräfte wirken (und das regelmäßig), habe ich mich gezielt hierfür entschieden, da die Fixierung mit zwei Schrauben statt nur einer erfolgt.

    Bislang hat sich nichts gelöst -- super.

    Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es dennoch, denn die Schraubenköpfe sind recht weich. Einmal satt angezogen lassen sie sich nicht unbedingt wieder lösen, sondern ergeben sich dem Sechskant und schlagen aus. Das limitiert auch etwas die Kraft, die man zum Anzug benötigt. Dies gilt sowohl für den mitgelieferten Sechskant wie für externe.

    Kurioserweise passiert dies nicht bei jeder mitgelieferten Schraube. Da ich einzelne Schrauben auch lose in der Tüte fand, war das vielleicht eine Rücksendung, wer weiß. Auch das wäre dann allerdings ein Punktabzug.

    Die Idee das abgerissene Endstück eines Bowdenzuges hiermit zu ersetzen ist gut, aber die Praxis sieht anders aus. Das Stahlseil wird durch eine Madenschraube befestigt. Sobald der Bowdenzug betätigt wird, also Spannung entsteht, rutscht das Seil aus dem Endtück. Es war nicht möglich das Seil dauerhaft zu befestigen.
