- Reviewed in Canada on December 31, 2011Verified PurchaseSo, I recieved my xbox today, first one I ever got, when you open the box you can tell that this is going to be a fun machine, the look and graphics are amazing. I already have downloaded a game from the xbox live arcade (you get a free month of live for this purchase), and bought a game. The 4gb advertised is more like 2.9gb after the formatting and operating system.
However, I found a 16gb flash drive laying around my house, I plugged it in to my xbox, formated it, and got 14gb's of more space. (XBOX ONLY ALLOWS UP TO 16GB FLASH DRIVES) Bumping the space from 2.9gb to 16.9gb of space which is alot considering that the average game without addons is 30mb, which gives you plenty of space. However, not all flash drives work with the 360, you have to plug them in format them then it will tell you if it works. I will add a product link for the 16gb flash drive I used which I am super happy with. 16gb Duracell Capless Usb This USB is amazing and gives you 14gb on the xbox (xbox takes some for settings)
There is also a certified 8gb one made by sandisk. I have never tried it, but it looks more expensive than this one.
It's a really great system to play on, and so easy to set up.
I would recommend to anyone.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 26, 2024Verified PurchaseThe system wont stay powered on for more than 5 minutes my best guess would be bad power supply or crappy system. The controller was honestly chewed and unusable. Did not receive my 1 month xboxlive. ALso did not receive any form of output cord. would not recommend.

(Saving that for later, thank you) The small box it came in was sealed well and the items were sufficiently cushioned. BUT, the 鶹 box the little box was inside, was NOT cushioned well at all. (Yes, it was shipped to me in a small box inside a big box.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Works awesome, NO problems at ALL
Verified PurchaseFirst and foremost the system is beautiful, looks good nice/sleek/compact, no issues with game play, over heating, graphics etc. shipped quickly arrived quickly, i got exactly what i ordered, nothing more nothing less, i'm overall very happy with the product I've only had it for a few days but i don't see anything wrong with it. if the system is inactive for an hour it shuts itself off (nice touch for bedtime movie watchers) swipe your finger (or even palm or arm lol) across the power button it gives a little chime and turns on which i found neat (much like the PS3) the fan isn't over loud and it runs cool for about an hour and gradually gets warmer, i am a avid gamer and play anywhere from an hour to 5 in one sitting (probably put 15ish hours on the system within the week I've had it) and i constantly check the system to make sure it isn't to hot and I've never had a problem with it or felt it was to hot to continue to play with/on. The system comes with all cords you need to play, remote and even 2 Duracell battery's, DOES NOT come with 3 free months of live (not a problem but in one of the pics it showed a 250GB system with 3 free months of live, this is a 4GB no live)if your transferring from an old Xbox you WILL NEED a transfer cable (they are on sale, $7 free shipping ;) ) or get it from the store, use it and take it back (lol) i transferred from my old 20GB arcade and it took maybe 10 minutes (if that) on a side note the smartest thing for you to do is to buy this guy (4GB is the cheapest) then buy the 320GB from the seller JUST-FOR-YOU (he sells them for $88 and they are GENUINE Microsoft products they sell theirs for $120.) both will cost you $286.99 cheaper then a 250GB with 70GB more memory. over all, great product. great buy. lots of fun.
Happy Gaming :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value
Verified PurchaseI bought this Xbox 360 S 4GB console, and separately purchased both the Xbox 360 250GB hard drive for the 360 S console and the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable (all sold by 鶹) so that we could replace our old Xbox 360 that had been crashing. I first transferred all our games and videos from our old Xbox 360 to the 250 GB hard drive by connecting the 250 GB hard drive to our old Xbox via the USB connector on the Hard Drive Transfer Cable. The transfer was very easy because the Xbox detected the Transfer Cable and prompted us to perform the data transfer. Then, I installed the 250 GB hard drive into our new 360 S console by following the instructions that came with the 250 GB hard drive. This was all very easy to do, and the new 360S console worked perfectly immediately. When we now choose "Settings" and then "System" and then "Storage", we have three storage devices listed: Hard Drive (the 250 GB hard drive), the Memory Unit (4 GB that came in the Console), and Cloud Saved Games. We have all our add-ons, stored games, and stored videos (movies) on the 250 GB hard drive, and they all play the same as they do on Xbox consoles that come with hard drives already installed. We never store anything on the 4GB Memory Unit because it is simply too small--you MUST have the 250GB hard drive if you are a gamer, have stored games and/or videos, and/or have add-ons. Installing the 250 GB hard drive in the 360S gives you the same console as you would get by purchasing an Xbox with the internal hard drive already installed. Going this "do-it-yourself" route was a significant savings over purchasing a new Xbox with the 250 GB internal hard drive already installed. I give the console, the 250 GB hard drive, and the Hard Drive Transfer Cable five stars. However, my son gives the bubble wrap packaging a one star because all the bubbles were popped, which would of have been a source of entertainment for him while I was transferring data. :D

5.0 out of 5 stars 4gig 360 S
Verified PurchaseThe new design is incredible. The look, size, just everything is great. For all the people that say "its just as hot if not hotter than the regular 360" Well DUH it is on a single die. That heat sink is going to heat up with the same amount of heat as the old 360.. just on a single die instead of two. BUT it still runs cooler even tho it seems hot. Unless you do a real heat test you cannot say it really does run hotter... because it does NOT. It almost runs 10c cooler sometimes.
New touch design I do like (even the little beeps it gives you :D ) I really like how they put the fan on the side making air come in from the top and out of the side, way better design (you don't have to worry about it being against the wall anymore)
I like the 4gig better because it is matte, I had a 250gig and sold it because I did not enjoy the dust, prints, etc it attracted. I do believe that spending $40 more for a 4gig and buying a 250gig HDD separate is the way to go.
Of course no Blu-Ray even tho that would be great since that the reason I own a PS3, but thats Sony not MS. Its not going to happen although we wish it would.
I think the controller that comes with the console is actually more 'better' (bad grammar on purpose) I just like the D-Pad it feels to me that they have change it some. And I like how the battery packs actually fit well in the controller now and the new Chrome guide button.
Built in wifi is a no duh, why didn't they do that in the beginning... But is great and its N band.
Only negatives.. the power supply now has a fan in it, it is louder than the console itself if the game you are playing is installed on the hard drive. BUT that is not a bad thing really because the PSU needs a good fan. And that is just nit pic (my PC and PS3 are just as loud if not louder)
Great console wish they would have started out with this good of a console from the start.

5.0 out of 5 stars xbox 360 slim (with out the hype)
Verified Purchaseookaay, after all the hype and arguments of which is better, ps3 or 360, i decided to pic up the slim 4gb model for myself, to have another go at it. you see this is my third,(thats right, sucker for punishment i know) xbox, the prior units went the way of trash ROD 2008 and i have not played anything since. so i watched these for a while and checked the reviews for any signs of problems. so i picked up one, and my first impression was ,it looks nice, i knew about all the features before hand so i knew what expect. so i hooked it up and started, this thing is waaayyy quiter than the previous version, so i was on vacation when it came so i decided to give it a stress test,5 hours then a two hour rest and then another 3 hours of play . this was cool, well allot less heat than the first. i am playing my OLD games that i didn't complete gears 1, halo 3, dirt, modern warfare, so i won't be buying anything new for a while so that is why i didn't get the hard drive version, but i recommend it if you want to take full advantage of xbox live or so me of the newer games on live you will have to have a hard drive.Graphics are the same to me they just made it more reliable i guess "Don't perfect it just make sure when the boat is ready to sail,be on it". Whats annoying , Hhhmmm ah yes those damn touch sensitive power and eject buttons. You see as i was playing i was constantly putting the back of my hand over the vents to get an idea as to how hot, you know being cautious, well sometimes it ejected the disc arrggg, or cleaning and it powers on,welll, that my only gripe for now.So, synopsis, don't change to this if your console is working properly, if you are in the market to pick up a console and you want to know ps3 or xbox, i would choose this because more games and xbox live i think that is what saved ms behind.the problems in the pass was reliability issues and i think they have it beaten this toss. i f you want to use the kinect this is ready with a port for that so if that is a major issue for you then this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Xbox 360 4GB review
Verified PurchaseWell, I had a gen 1 xbox 360 since 2007 and that lasted me until around late January of 2011. The only reason that lasted so long was because I had fixed the RROD problem twice with the penny trick so I've had quite some frustration with the old one but I did manage to make it live 4 years so I'm going to compare this xbox 360 with the older one.
This one I got in late Febuary, and so far I'm pleased with it. I haven't had it long enough to report any malfunctions yet but it seems as if they made have improved the cooling system significantly compared to the gen 1 xbox 360 which should mean a longer lifespan. A forewarning, don't put anything in front of the vents on the side of the xbox that the DVD drive is closer to. Those vents get real hot and a friend of mine put a game in a case over those vents and it nearly melted that CD and thus ruined it. The new buttons on the xbox for power and eject are really touch sensitive and have a loud DING noise to let you know they are pressed so I do like those improvements. The built in wifi is an added bonus and it seems to work real well (although only a couple of times have I been disconnected randomly, yet I'm not sure if that is the modem's fault of the xbox. What I don't like about it is the new hard drives. If you have an older HDD from a gen 1 or 2 xbox 360, they won't work without some "modifications". All you have to do is remove the case that is on the small HDD and it will fit into the new xbox 360's HDD slot. But this is really annoying and unnecessary. It just means that if you want to play online, some games won't work unless you spend 100 + dollars on a new HDD. You will need the larger HDD if you plan on making this system your main gaming system. It also didn't come with a 1 month XBOX Live Gold subscription card like the official xbox website claims it should have (which isn't a problem to me, just letting you know in advanced).
Pros (Compared to the older xbox 360):
-The new buttons
-Overall the system seems sturdier than the old xbox.
-It is smaller and looks cooler in my opinion.
-It comes with built in wifi which is such a nice bonus over the old xbox 360.
-What appears to be better cooling
Cons:
-The older xbox HDDs don't work without removing the case on them.
-Didn't come with a 1 month subscription card to XBOX Live Gold.
Overall I'm pleased with it and the cons don't cost this a star in my opinion. I do play on computers far more often than xbox so I'm not as picky as some people are.
