It features a vertical hairline brush front cover and glossy badge. The design is compact and functional. It fits on a desk or on the floor without taking up too much space. The power button is unique with an arrow-like shape.

With Intel Core i5-13400 processor, it is built to handle everyday tasks with ease. With 16GB of DDR4 RAM, it stays responsive even when running multiple programs simultaneously. The 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD ensures fast boot times and quick file access.
Sound and Visuals:
It features HD Audio with 5.1-Channel Surround Sound to enhance the entertainment experience. The sound is crisp and immersive. With HDMI port, itcan be connected to a wide-screen monitor or a large TV.

The Wi-Fi 6E connectivity provides faster speeds. It ensures a stable internet connection. Bluetooth 5.3 allows for smooth device pairing. The USB 3.2 Type-C port is suitable for charging and high-speed data transfers.
Expandability:
The 8-liter chassis offers plenty of space for further expansion like extra storage or graphics capabilities. This is a big plus to extend the system's lifespan or upgrade.
The Acer XC-1780-EA92 offers a solid balance of performance, design and connectivity. It's perfect for home offices, light content creation, media and general use. It's not a powerhouse for intensive gaming or high-end video editing. The room for expansion makes it a good choice for users to upgrade in the future.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 31, 2024This Acer XC-1780 has the Gen 13 intel i5 10 core cpu with 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, 16 GB ram and 512 GB SSD. It comes with 7 USB ports, 2 HDMI ports, SD card reader, ethernet port, 2 microphone input jacks, earphone jacks and 2 audio output jacks. It has wifi 6E and bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. It is preloaded with Windows 11. No instruction manual is included. To get started, click on the top arrow shape button on top of the computer and follow the on screen step by step instructions to setup. It is very simple and straight forward, will take 30 minutes to complete the setup.
What I like about the Acer XC-1780:
- Stylish slim chassis with small foot print, great for desktop or on the floor setup without taking up too much space.
- very fast NVMe Gen 4 512GB SSD. I tested the data transfer rate with Blackmagic Disk Speed test and got over 3000MB/sec read/write speed.
- i5 CPU-13400 with 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores are great for multi-tasking and sufficiently fast enough for 4K video editing.
- 2 HDMI ports are provided for extended dual monitor displays.
- very immersive surround sound when connected to my LG sound bar to watch Netflix video.
- Fast wifi 6E connectivity for high speed download and upload and 1000 Gabit/sec ethernet connectivity.
- 16 GB DDR4 RAM memory are included which is more than most desktops in this category with 8 GB RAM memory.
- There is no virus found on the SSD when scan with f-secure Anti-virus app after setup was completed.
Here are my dislikes:
- The two USB 3.2 and one USB C port, all tested to be below 500MB/sec data transfer rate when connected with a Samsung T7 2TB external SSD. This same SSD was tested to be over 1300 MB/sec data transfer rate when connected to a Mac Mini Thunderbolt 4 port (equivalent to a USB 4 port). Most current computers are offering at least one USB 4 port rated at 40 GB/sec data transfer rate for connection to fast external SSD. The provided USB ports are disappointedly slow.
- There is limited room for expansion on the mother board, only one PCI slot is available for expansion, most other PC will have multiple PCI and PCIe slots for expansion.
- A DVD input slot is on the front face of the computer but there is no DVD inside the slot. It will be great to load DVD into this computer to watch movie output to the TV with one of the HDMI output.
- the keyboard and the mouse are the corded variety, cordless bluetooth should be provided for this stylish PC for its space saving design.
Overall, this ACER XC-1780 is a capable desktop for everyday use, good multi-tasking performance and adequate processing power for 4K video rendering.
I recommend this Acer XC-1780 for home office, light duty media editing and is a great PC for university students.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 3, 2025This desktop computer from Acer has a small footprint, taking up little space on your desk with it's smaller form factor. Unfortunately, with that small form factor comes proprietary hardware that makes it difficult to upgrade or make many changes.
But first, the computer itself works pretty well. It comes with Windows 11 Home Edition, which should be suitable for most users. The Intel Core i5-13th generation processor is plenty fast enough for basic daily usage. The 16gb of RAM is about as low as you'd want to go and the 512gb SSD hard drive is fast, but doesn't leave much space for storage.
Upon opening the case to see what upgrade options are available, I was pleasantly surprised to see that both RAM sticks are removable and should be able to be upgraded to a higher capacity. There are also 2 PCI expansion slots, one being full length and the other being mini-PCI. This should allow you to add additional components, although the need to do so these days is becoming increasingly rare with USB speeds improving.
There are also 3 additional SATA data ports on the motherboard and 2 SATA power pins. This is good because the proprietary power supply has no extra plugs, so if you want to add a hard drive or SSD drive, you need to use the included power adapter that plugs directly into the motherboard.
Speaking of additional drives, there is a removable rack/housing that allows you to install a 3.5" hard drive and a standard sized SSD drive. The drawback is that it is housed directly above the SATA data and SATA power ports, so getting the cables plugged in and tucked out of the way a little bit of a struggle. I suggest plugging everything in before replacing the rack into it's slot. I'm not quite sure why they included 3 SATA data ports with only 2 SATA power ports and only 2 hard drive slots though.
Overall, this is a sleek looking case that isn't obnoxious and it has lots of features like WiFi 6E, an SD card reader, Bluetooth, several front and back USB ports and dual HDMI ports. There is also the ability to install a CD/DVD drive, but it looks like it is another proprietary option. The fact that there is some ability to upgrade puts this slightly above some other models from competitors.
If you are looking for a cheap desktop computer that you can grow slightly as it gets older, this is a decent choice.
