[Update July 13, I think my mouth doesn't like it when sensodyne multi-action is reacting with the mouthwash as I have noticed sloughing/white stringy biofilm (oral mucosal peeling) in my mouth when I wake up, and I had used sensodyne before this without issues. Not an issue with the mouth wash, but it's something to note!]
[Update June 24, I would liken the flavour to a watered down grape soda! It has grown on me and both mint or grape are fine for me now. Bumped from 4 star to 5 star :) Using toothpaste and not rinsing before using the mouthwash will cause change in flavor.]
I'm using fluoride rinses for the first time, so I will mainly be touching on the taste and my research when I was looking to buy one.
Taste: Gives you a pleasant cooling feeling once you spit out the excess! Not "spicy" in any way. Has a bit of another taste that I can't quite put my name, but I also tasted it in the other flavor I purchased. I highly prefer the mild mint flavour over grape, which had a somewhat artificial grape flavour, again more mild than other artificial grape flavours I have tasted (like grape medicine tasting candy, all sweet and not really sour). The mint flavour was super mild so I recommend mint, unless you have a vendetta against mint.
Ingredients: great from what I researched!! You want a >7 PH level (acidity is what harms your teeth and makes it break down), higher fluoride content (toothpaste is typically 0.2% sodium fluoride which is about 0.11% fluoride ions), and no alcohol (will irritate your mouth and cause dryness). 0.5% Grape opti-rinse has pH of 7 (neutral), great fluoride content (0.05% sodium fluoride), and no alcohol!
I found it was pretty difficult to find a fluoride rinse brand that had sodium fluoride content of 0.05% and above, most were 0.02% or 0.01% which makes them absolutely useless if you just brushed your teeth. That's like 1/10 or less of your toothpaste (which you are not supposed to rinse btw!!). Moreover, higher fluoride content usually meant higher price. This was one of the only brands that was affordable yet had good ingredients.
