A guide to some of the world’s most fascinating places, as seen and experienced by writer, television host, and relentlessly curious traveler Anthony Bourdain
Anthony Bourdain saw more of the world than nearly anyone. His travels took him from the hidden pockets of his hometown of New York to a tribal longhouse in Borneo, from cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Paris, and Shanghai to Tanzania’s utter beauty and the stunning desert solitude of Oman’s Empty Quarter—and many places beyond.
World Travel, a life of experience is collected into an entertaining, practical, fun and frank travel guide that gives readers an introduction to some of his favorite places—in his own words. Featuring essential advice on how to get there, what to eat, where to stay and, in some cases, what to avoid,World Travelprovides essential context that will help readers further appreciate the reasons why Bourdain found a place enchanting and memorable.
Supplementing Bourdain’s words are a handful of essays by friends, colleagues, and family that tell even deeper stories about a place, including sardonic accounts of traveling with Bourdain by his brother, Christopher; a guide to Chicago’s best cheap eats by legendary music producer Steve Albini, and more. Additionally, each chapter includes illustrations byWesley Allsbrook.
For veteran travelers, armchair enthusiasts, and those in between,World Traveloffers a chance to experience the world like Anthony Bourdain.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 18, 2022Verified PurchaseWell written and a must for any anthony bourdain fan or just want to read a great story!
- Reviewed in Canada on June 19, 2024Verified PurchaseWith his travels, he was able to go to many cities, sometimes multiple times. So he ended up eating at some if the best restaurants feach city had to offer. Even if you don't expect to leave your province/state/country, seeing what other cities have name it a good read. I think Canada is around page 48.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 9, 2022Verified PurchaseThe actual book itself it well written and interesting. I loved the inserts from Bourdain that made me mess him all the more. As this is a semi-travel guide, some of the information is out-dated as to be expected. However, there's enough high level details to remain relevant.
All that being said, I bought to hardcover version for collection value and to support this great idea. The quality of the haedcover is really bad... They used recycled paper that got wet during delivery and it only loosely attaches to the spine.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 27, 2023Verified PurchaseIf you're a fan of Bourdain, his shows and narratign style, then you will love this book. The various tidbits on information on food in the cities he visits truly add to the experience once you're there, or they will at the very least want to go there.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 20, 2022Verified PurchaseBought it for the spouse. They appreciated it. Says it’s all in alphabetical order of the places he went.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 22, 2023Verified PurchaseThis is an informational book that is a recap of Bourdain's shows, which is a good thing. My one critique is that because prices are added into the text, that bit of information is irrelevant, as prices are always fluctuating.

1.0 out of 5 stars A scam
Verified PurchaseThis book is a scam. It has hardly anything written by Bourdain. Instead it has some quotes cribbed from the numerous TV series. It has a lot of filler such as airport information for each city and description of public transport. Do we really care? This is a shameless attempt to profit from a peripheral relationship with Bourdain and the tragedy of his death. A disgrace
