- Reviewed in Canada on February 21, 2025Verified PurchaseThe first movie to mix black and white and colour. Not sure if staying home all your life is better than venturing out, but certainly is fodder for homebodies. Good songs worth hearing over and over. Glad they left the complete "Over the Rainbow" and didn't cut it, as originally planned for the 1939 release. It always irks me when Dorothy shows preference for the Scarecrow over the others, right in front of them; how hurtful.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 21, 2024Verified PurchaseI have seen this movie many many times, back to when it was an annual event on broadcast TV. Then VHS and DVD. This 4K release is like watching it for the very first time when it was released in theatres. The colours are glorious and the sound couldn't be better.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 11, 2023Verified PurchaseThe 4K improves the video quality over the Blu-ray. The yellow brick road looks yellow and not a darker yellow [for example]. The disc also includes a "making" at around 50 minutes hosted by Angela Landsbury and taken from TV at one point.
The regular BR contains various versions of the movie in addition to a 61 minute "making" - not the same as the 4K one with some repeated information. There is also some shorter featurettes.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 14, 2022Verified PurchaseMy wife loves this classic movie so I bought the 4K version for her. Not complaining but I should have realized that doing a 4K version of a movie from 80+ years ago won't have the same detail that a recent movie would had seeing as they are scanning from something that doesn't have high resolution. No regrets but don't expect the same 4K "wow" factor you would get from a new release.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastisch!

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not play
Verified PurchaseI purchased this in April, but had saved it to watch with my granddaughter today. It will not play on my DVD player, nor will it play on my PC. On the box, in small print , it says "not for sale outside USA or Canada". Is this the reason that it is not working? If so, I will need to return it for a refund. Both very disappointed.
