Witch Hunter Robin: The Complete Series
26 episodes of this psychological thriller following Robin Sena.
Product description
In a world where deadly beings known as Witches prowl the streets, only a group of specialized hunters can take them down. They are the STNJ, and their crew is about to gain a brand-new member: Robin Sena, a powerful craft user and awkward 15-year-old girl. Between learning to control her fire and taking on the dangerous Witches, Robin must also find a way to get along with her cool and aloof partner, Amon. Which is easier said than done. As they take on case after case, hunting Witches that threaten the city, Robin uncovers the reality about these deadly humans and the powers they wield. And worse yetthe truth about herself. Suddenly, shes on the opposite side of the hunt and even the protection of Amon isnt enough to keep her safe. Forced into hiding, Robin must seek the answers about her existence and the power of Witches.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 2, 2019Verified PurchaseIts difficult to explain the low-key charm of Witch Hunter Robin. Suitable for family viewing, it unfolds quietly as a sort of science fiction procedural thats entirely accessible to anyone comfortable with thrillers and mystery stories. For a show that seems to be all about witches, theres no overt horror imagery, or even much blood episodes pass with fewer glimpses of dead bodies than youd expect in a mainstream mystery series.
The title characters origin is something of an inversion of a superhero clich: shes an orphan who was taught to use magic at a monastery in the mysterious and exotic West, who has now returned to high-tech Japan to put her skills to use but for her day job, not as a lone vigilante.
This is a bare-bones DVD re-release, and appears to be using the same transfer as Bandais 2003C2004 release. Funimation has packed the show into a smaller physical package, with fewer discs. Bandais edition will remain the definitive one, since it included some interviews as bonus material thats not present in this version.
My copy didnt come with the promised access code for the streaming version; I had to sort that out with Funimation technical support over a couple of days.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 19, 2018This was actually one of the first Annie's I saw back in the early 2000 along with Tri-gun, Full Metal Alchemist, Inuyasha, Zatch-Bell, Macross Plus, Gundam wing, Dragon Ball Z and epic movies like Ninja Scroll when cable channels like YTV and Teletoon were actually still showing 'nominal' amounts of anime. That said I went back years later and found it as a dub which leads me to the misunderstanding of why this is just being released as "new" thing even though it's really just a re-release. However, re-releasing to DVD and digital doesn't make any sense sense now that Blu-ray exists and almost everything is now able to be put on BD.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 16, 2024Verified PurchaseIt is slow not much going on the witches are not scary they lack excitement and hunters are a group of people that are there because theyre not much else going on should of been a rated R to make it more interesting
- Reviewed in Canada on August 5, 2022Verified PurchaseWhile good, was still lacking something to make it great.

5.0 out of 5 stars DVDs look great!
Verified PurchaseDVDs all appear to be in great shape, inner case looks really good, it just didn't have the outer cover. The packing was really secure too, no way it was gonna get dented. Am very happy.
