These solar post lights are everything I hoped for: functional, low-maintenance, and weirdly satisfying to watch turn on every time someone walks by. I installed them on two corners of my back deck, and they’ve been consistently reliable, even during Alberta’s moody, smoke-filtered twilight hours.
The mount bases make them super versatile, and the setup was a breeze. Literally under 5 minutes. The hardest part was peeling the protective stickers off the mini solar panels, but that's just because of my gross nail-chewing habit. They're well-built, and they come with good-quality installation hardware. I'm not sure what the included drywall anchors are meant for, but I appreciate having them to add to my collection nonetheless - and the steel base is strong enough that you can mount them on a flat surface (like I did) if you don't have posts to mount them on. I screwed them down on top of my deck railing and even though the base is recessed to accept a post, I was able to attach them securely without deforming it. The light housing itself is made of plastic, but it seems like it will hold up. Time will tell...
I love that they come with 3 light modes. I’m using the motion sensor setting because, well… it’s fun to catch the neighbourhood raccoons in the act. The motion detection is quick, the light is bright without being blinding, and the 360° solar charging really seems to help keep them juiced up even on overcast days.
They’re IP65 waterproof, so I’m not worried about a little rain (or even the weekly backyard hose wars my kid seems to start). The bulbs came included, which was a pleasant surprise because I’m used to ordering “complete” kits and still having to hit up the hardware store for missing pieces.
A+ for ease, brightness, and not having to pay the electric company to light up my backyard anymore.
