Jacinta Howard is an Atlanta-based author and culture journalist with over a decade of experience writing about music, art, and pop culture.     Jacinta Hlward has such a beautiful way with words. This story felt so personal, like a love letter to every woman of a certain age, still dealing with the residual effects of childhood trauma. I loved the flow of the storyline and the connection between all the characters. Having Simone see herself in another young lady probably helped her more than even therapy. So glad to see such growth and communication. This is a story for all women. It felt so good reading.

    Whew Jacinta! This one touched my heart and soul. Okay, to be fair, all of your books do. Lol. But, man have I missed you!

    This story is about Love. Grown up, trying to learn and earn your way, while righting your wrongs, LOVE. The hurt that I could feel, was tough! Being a grown up is hard. Being a wife or husband is work. And, then throw in being a good parent, while owning your own businesses, is a whole JOB too. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was raw and thoughtful. There were difficult subjects addressed, and some realistic hard times for the couple and family.

    I don't want to give any spoilers. But, in an age of make-believe , fantasy romance novels (which I enjoy too), THIS is truly a beautiful flower. It shows that married folks age, have real problems, question themselves and their choices, still enjoy one another, and can still love, love each other after many years together. Is it always easy? Nope. But, as was told to Simone, " you either roll with punches, or be the punch." True life words. I have a quote on my work desk that says, "all seeds have to go through a lot of dirt to grow."
    P.s. Jackson is an older cousin of Bam in my eyes. Gruff, serious, mature, and loving.

    This book was sooo good! Jacinta wrote the hell out of this story! 🔥It was very relatable, and funny, and amazing. This book taught me alot about life and its lesson’s. Even though I’m not in my forties, I am going to remember and use this story as a guide for when I reach my forties.💯 I really loved all the characters especially Logan and Tristian. I hope there’s a book with those two coming soon!👏🏽👏🏽😍✨

    I love a good second chance romance and even better when it isn’t just exes but married ones. We meet Simone who is about to turn 40 and isn’t quite happy in her life. She does what she has to do in terms of taking care of her son and working but not her heart and feelings. She still has unresolved trauma from her childhood and that colored everything especially her marriage to Jackson. They divorce and it takes them a while to find their way back to each other. I loved how she used therapy to heal and how that made her understand why she asked for a divorce in the first place. Jackson could not have been any more sweeter and understanding. I loved this book and am so happy this author is writing again. It was worth the wait!
