- Reviewed in Canada on May 5, 2025Verified PurchaseWould give this a zero if possible, ordered 2 of these and they were both warped/bent what good is a stick that is used as a straight edge if its warped. poor quality and useless as a straight edge avoid this item.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2019Verified PurchaseNot much can go wrong with a ruler/yardstick unless the printer for the numbers and markings is off-kilter. However, this replacement for an old yardstick lost in a house-moving is flimsier than its predecessor and flexes easily, a nuisance when you're trying to measure a distance from a wall, for instance, by sliding the ruler between two pieces of furniture. You can't be sure that the measurement is true if you can't see whether the yardstick is bowed a little at the hidden end.

5.0 out of 5 stars they used to give these away
Verified PurchaseWooden Yardstick
Remember when they used to give these away at every hardware or dry goods store. Well those days are a long time gone. I actually got this because I have a keyboard drawer mounted under my desk that does not have a back. Pencils and pens I leave in it kept sliding out when I pulled the keyboard out. I needed something long and thin to make a lip to keep them in place. I cut 20 inches off the long end and solved the problem with a piece of doubled sided tape. That left me with a nice 16 inch wooden ruler as well.
No idea what kind of wood this is other than soft.Well made smooth surfaces with black printing on the surface. Accurate according to a steel rule that I compared them to.Each end is about 1/32 inch longer than required so the end marks are clearly delineated. Both sides are labeld with 1/8 increments. Made in China of course.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome!
Verified PurchaseWorks well for measurements in all three dimensions. You can measure the length, the height and the width of objects all using the same stick. Bravo, Acme United! It works best with measuring solid objects. You can get a rough estimate of liquid and gases if you move really quickly. I did not try it on plasma.
I wish it could measure more than one dimension at a time. Also, it doesn't work well on curved objects. I have tried bending the yardstick but it doesn't have much flexibility. It also does not work very well on long objects. Anything greater than three feet and you can forget it.
I was told that this product would not work well outside of the US, but I took it with me to Canada and found that I could still conduct measurements with only one exception. I encountered some challenges trying to measure the snowfall on the ground. It said 28 inches, but I knew the snow was less than a foot high. Finally, I got out my calculator and subtracted 28 from 36 to figure out the snow was 8 inches high.
