    I read everything this author writes. His books are well written tales of the medieval era with engaging characters and authenticity. His background as a teacher allows him to spin tales that are worth reading and contemplating. The main character is a trained surgeon with surprisingly wise treatments of his patients. Starting with book one "The Unquiet Bones"

    Murder mysteries but nothing too horrific, good bedtime reading, although you may find yourself thinking "just a few more pages, then I will go to sleep" into the early hours!

    Mel Starr writes a wonderful series of mystery novels about a tiny English village in the late 1300s. When I finish a book, I really feel I have been there. Geography, food, clothing, and social customs all add to the feeling. I anxiously await each new book’s publication.
