I normally use a flat iron to curl my hair and it takes me about 15 minutes total. My hair is almost down to my mid-waist when straight but has natural waves, is non-porous and fine but I do have a lot of hair so it often looks and feels quite thick. Due to the length and how much hair I have some hair tools won’t work as well with it. This wave tool is a neat concept and there is a small learning curve. However if you have ever styled your hair with a regular large barrel iron then you should pick it up quickly. Prior to using a flat iron I styled my hair with a regular curling iron for years so it didn’t feel awkward or hard to use this other than the clip being so short relative to the barrel length. I do wish the clip extended all the way up the barrel instead of being a fraction of the length though I understand their goal in doing that. It’s just for really long hair like mine that has some layers to it the full length clip would hold it better while curling. Aside from that this curler is really easy to use and I found it did produce a variety of curls depending on how you wrapped the hair in the barrel. For example, if I twisted a lock of hair first and then wrapped it in the barrel I would get a slightly tighter curl that I could shake out and get the perfect mermaid curl (see photos attached - I rarely take photos so ignore my expression lol. I hate selfies but wanted to show the hairstyle.) If I just wrapped it normally without twisting first then I would get a looser curl that would relax faster. I did find that my hair didn’t hold the curl from this as long as my hair does with the flat iron but my flat iron also heats up to a higher temperature. This also could be due to my experimenting with the barrel and once I find a routine that I like with it then it may produce a longer lasting curl. Once I curled my hair I let it cool and then sprayed it with OSIS session spray and combed and shook it out. This have me a nice loose curl that looked really pretty and I was happy with. Time-wise it did take me way longer to style my hair with this vs my flat iron because I had to use smaller sections with this barrel then I could with my flat iron (note again I have quite long hair when it is straight.) I also went a bit slower while I learned how to use it however I think it will always be a bit slower than my flat iron simply because the barrel can’t handle as much of my hair with each curl. Overall though I did LOVE the final results and honestly it is super simple to use, it just took a bit more time compared to my normal 15 min hairstyle and it didn’t quite last as long however I am keeping this tool and will continue but to use it. I’m excited to do mermaid waves in the summer with this. I would order it again and I do recommend adding it to your hair styling tool line-up 👍🏻
