This device adds a 3Mbps (max) USB-to-TTL serial port to your Windows/Linux/Mac/Android device. The instructions are very detailed and walk you through everything. Simply search the Waveshare site for "USB to TTL". Note there are SEVERAL A/B/C variations, you want the plain "USB to TTL" one for this device. The box includes an 8-pin serial breakout cable suitable to connect to Arduino/Raspberry Pi or any other type of serial-capable system. Driver installation was effortless on Windows 11. A new COM port just shows up in device manager, and the driver includes highly-configurable advanced settings like buffer size, timeouts and a ton of other options, too. Check the website for current documentation and software drivers - everything you need is right there and very clearly documented. This USB to TTL serial adapter is highly recommended!

    By using this device it eliminates the need to build circuit just to upload code directly to device that does not have built-in TTL to USB like ESP32 or ESp8266. The adjustable output voltage of 3V to 5V is great to have so no I no longer need to build my own voltage regulator, which saves time building it just to upload a code. I will recommend this tool.

    What shipped was an older model using a FTDI chipset. FTDI worked well in the past. It sees data, but just won't go to the right baud rate. I am an electronics engineering technologist and have been working with serial devices since the 1980s. I had a different FTDI setup that worked first time when I bit the bullet and put it all together. Perhaps their B model which uses a different chipset works properly.
