    Its a great place to start, it only comes with a basic set of paints. You need more paints if you plan to expand your army or do highlights and whatnot. The models snap together you dont need any glue for this set.

    It's a good starting point, but they really should have tried to include an Agrax Earthshade or some kind of shade. They're fun to use and make a big difference in the results quickly, they were one of the things that made Warhammer painting "click" for me. It just feels like a critical missing piece to not include that.

    Also personal preference unrelated to the product quality, but I recommend painting the tyranid armor black instead of purple. They look a lot cooler. You can still highlight or do some stuff with the purple. Obviously personal preference, paint how you like! ..also, buy a shade.

    I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He has loved making the space marines. The book guides you through the set up. I would recommend getting a good quality file, nipper, and buffer for getting the pieces out and fixing the nubs. Also, the brush does seem to fray out a little. He has only finished the marines, still has to do the tyranids.

    The set has everything you need including the tools, a basic Matt to play on etc. it does not come with primer however, you don’t NEED to use primer but if you are going to be playing with them a lot then you should invest in some. The handbook that comes with it runs you through how to build/ paint the miniatures as well as a few handy tricks for when you paint. However if you are buying them just to paint then you should research more on painting the figures.
