It worked seamlessly, and now my dryer runs much more smoothly without the annoying squealing.

    For those passionate about repairs, you can even take apart the old idler pulley as a fun project. In most cases, the bearings are the problem, and replacing the ball bearings should fix it.

    Purchased May 2024, Today 1/30/25, doing laundry started hearing high pitch and clunking sound. My first thought - I just recently replaced the pulley bearing. Took dryer apart opened the back - ran dryer - Holly Molly - it’s the wheel bearing. The wheel will freeze while running and the tensioner will grab and within seconds the spring will pull it back down - it makes a loud enough sound I thought the dryer may have a clutch that went bad - big metal thump.
    Anyways, can not recommend- it does look like a lot of success with other - but a few reviews support how mine purchase worked out. Ok, yep what did I expect for a low budget / aftermarket part - it did work for 8 months!

    installation of the item was easy. it works as designed. our problem occurred about a year into using the idler pulley when the squeak returned.
    the plastic triangular clip holding the wheel to the spindle had worn to the point of failure and fell off allowing excessive travel on the wheel.
    our solution was to replace the plastic trianble with an e-clip and a flat nylon washer behind it to help guide the wheel.
    the installation was to clean the spindle and wheel. apply high temp grease to the shaft/spindle and reassemble in this order:
    original plastic washer
    wheel
    1/2 inch new larger nylon washer
    1/2 inch e clip pushed onto wheel to rest inside the groove that the original plastic triangle clip used.
    install the modified idler pulley assembly into the dryer.
