I was reading some of the reviews and noted that one person indicated that these are very fragile, good for smaller plants only and that they are made from clear glass. These mushroom globes are made of plastic. It states that right on the product description. These globes are actually larger than your typical plant globes, holding 300 ml. of water so they are actually good for larger plants as well. If you place the globe in your plant at 90 degrees, you will get a slower drip than if you place it at 60 degrees. The globes are also quite durable.
There is no cover on the top which makes it easy to add water but I wonder if this contributes to a higher evaporation rate. The top only has a small hole which makes it very easy to add water while the globe is already inserted in your plant. The spike is made of terracotta so this contributes well to even watering of the plant. The porous terracotta slowly releases water to the roots as needed, preventing overwatering and promoting healthy plant growth.
You get a bonus with this order, a small watering container which allows you to fill it and then you can just squirt any additional needed water into the globe.
This is a well-designed watering accessory for your plant, particularly if you are going to be absent from your residence for a while. It works for indoor as well as outdoor plants but I would qualify that by saying, outdoor plants in a planter or container.
The look of the globe, shaped like a mushroom, is also very cute and makes it look very decorative with your plant.
I would highly recommend this mushroom styled watering globe.
