Visions gets blasted for its obvious attempt at the larger adult contemporary pop market circa 1971. I’ve read the word schmaltzy used to describe the session and song choice; covers of Chicago, the Carpenters, the Jackson 5, and the Moments. These are sandwiched in-between more traditional soul jazz compositions; at worst the record could be labeled uneven. But, who cares! Ignore the critics. This is a well performed, tight funky session with some great playing by Green and held together with the ever solid drumming of Idris Muhammad. Enjoy!
