This does not work on most cars inner tie rod ends the tube end is too small to go over the ball part of the tie rod end to be able to twist it loose . Diamentions have been machined to wrong size . Bought and never used now had to use is useless.

This tool was useful in removing a stubborn inner tie rod. It was a little tricky to position the tool correctly onto the inner tie rod because the tie rod is larger then the horseshoe adapters. The adapter needs to be installed first then the tool is connected to the adapter. I gave this tool 4 stars because the instructions could have explained how to use the tool better. The tool came with several different size adapters and seemed to be made with a thick sturdy construction. Good price for this tool.

So if you buy this, be prepared to either return it, modify it or be happy with it. 3 possible outcomes lol.

I have rated it 3 stars as it is otherwise OK.

It comes in a nice (and usable) case.

The fit and finish is overall what you’d expect for a lower end import tool. It’s fine. Just not great. Expect that for the price of around $50 Canadian ($40 U.S.)

Refer to my photos. You will see that this tool is very narrow. More narrow than better quality tools on the market. This means for some vehicles it won’t work. At all. You can also see my photo of two clips. One is stock. One I have ground bigger at the back so car’s rod will fit. If you modify, do it slowly as heat will destroy the tool’s temper and make it weak.

Note that for this Honda, although modification meant it would work, it still would not ‘lock’ in place as it’s still too big. (See photos).

So how will you know? If you have done several cars before you’ll likely know if the application needs more room or if it has enough. But then again you likely already have a similar tool so won’t need this one. Otherwise I can’t help you much. Buy it and be ready to return it makes the most sense.

One plus is that the clips are laser engraved which makes it easy to tell which is which.

Good luck! And don’t forget to bend nut retaining tab on washer flat with a hammer and screwdriver before using!

the main head is too small. I have a small truck old ford ranger and I had a lot of difficulty removing my inner tie rod and it's just a small truck so imagine suv or bigger f150 it might just not work at all. the head is too small the round end of the inner tie rod barely fits in it. i had to try like 20 times to remove and another 20 to install install mine just frustrating. the main head opening of the shaft is too small.
