Dyson is in love with plastic. They can make a great product but they don’t seem to do much but use the exact same plastic for all parts of the unit. This is sufficient for many external parts but it’s terrible on hose/wand connections because it’s too flexible. Here again, with this part I am reviewing, they over engineer the design but under engineer the materials (ironically it means they under-engineer for profits). If Dysons weren’t so famous for breaking parts like this there wouldn’t be a cottage industry of third party replacements.

Anyhow this replacement part works perfectly. It seems well designed and should last a lot longer than the original. Hopefully this review helps someone to know it will work for your V15

I have two Dyson V11s, one I bought new and one I bought for parts to fix the new one. However, with the replacement items from China and battery from Dyson, I now have two perfectly functional Dyson V11s.

Both bins decided that the bin sealing ring needed to "give up the ghost". I thought I might need new bins or buy used ones from eBay. I decided to check on �鶹�� and found these they have replacements for the broken parts. I ordered two and they came the next day. They come with the magnetic tipped torx driver and torx screw that looks like the factory one. They both popped in pretty easily and make a perfect seal.

Installation notes:
1. When removing the broken seal after removing the screw gently squeeze the two sides so that the tab lifts slightly for easier removal. Be careful not to squeeze the top as you can crack the bin when you pull out the old seal.

2. Line up the tabs so that it is not offset to the side otherwise it won't seal all the way.

3. After installing new one, double check that the tabs have popped in and there is no gap between the outside of the seal and the bin.

Other items for Dyson cordless vac owners are the trigger replacements with reinforcement as both have broken on mine. Trigger clamp that you slide on to hold down the trigger, so that you don't have to tire out your finger. Get replacement batteries only from Dyson. I have tried two Chinese ones and both I returned as they didn't charge properly. It wasn't worth burning my house down from a bad battery management system. With all of these items you will be able to use your vac for years. Get extra filters too so that one can dry after cleaning.

When the seal ring broke on my V15 Detect, I was thrilled to find that I could just replace the ring and not trash the whole canister. Although my vacuum is an older model and not a Gen5, I was happy that this upgraded Gen5 design fit perfectly just the same. Plenty of replacement seal rings for sale are of the old design, which just means you'll have the same problem down the road. This new design is worth seeking out!

Pro tip for installation: position the nub that holds the screw into its retaining hole first. At that point, you may think the ring is too large to push the opposite side into the canister. It's not. Place the outward facing part of the seal ring against a flat surface and then press from the back of the canister--it will take some steady pressure, but the ring will slowly seat itself all the way in. Then replace the screw and you're done! It took me about two minutes.

Unexpected bonus: Wow, the suction on my Dyson was massively improved and felt like a new machine! I have to assume that before the seal broke completely, it was leaking vacuum suction over time, but I hadn't noticed. But with suction back at full power, the difference was immediately noticeable and surprising.

One final note: pricing for this ring seems to be all over that place, from $10-$35. Are they different or is it the same ring from the same factory just getting rebranded by individual sellers? Who knows, but all I can say is that THIS ring works as advertised.
