I discovered Dominic on Instagram fairly recently and love his recipes/content so bought the book more to support his hard work there rather than expecting a great cookbook…
Well, it has already exceeded expectations and I only received it yesterday! I’ve already made two recipes: asparagus tart for dinner last night with leftovers for lunch today, as well as the tomato sauce for future recipes.
It’s very well written - and edited/proofread - which is not a given these days!
I like that many of the recipes work (or are easily scalable) for a one person household, not always evident in recipe books and that the required ingredients are things I’m likely to already have in stock or can be easily obtained without breaking the bank.
I also particularly enjoyed the introduction describing the origins of the author’s introduction to and love of cooking and good food, it’s very reminiscent of my own family history with food and cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new way of looking at pies and pastry
Verified PurchaseA great book, and a fab way of making sure your pastry is properly cooked and crisp. It’s inspiring, I have made the breakfast pie a few times now with my own changes when I didn’t have all the ingredients. Easy to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Culinary pleasure
Verified PurchaseI stopped buying cookery books until this one came along - well, at 78, I thought I had them all!
The recipes are all so good to make, delicious to eat and a pleasure to look at. It’s well set out, colourful & culinarily appealing. Nor is it too tricky . Love it and off to get my ingredients now for tonight’s dinner! Thanks Dominic Franks!
