I ordered this universal metal wire trimmer because it was labeled universal and easy to install. I have two trimmers, one of which doesn't work properly, which means it uses a phenomenal amount of line, which is very expensive. So, I like the idea of a quasi-permanent metal line.
Note that it doesn't come with any specific instructions, so you have to use your best judgment to install it safely.
Unfortunately, this metal wire isn't as universal as I thought. It doesn't work with a trimmer that uses a line cassette. I thought I could replace the cassette with this metal wire, but it's not compatible. Fortunately, I have a second trimmer that has a compatible center screw. So I was able to replace the wheel with this metal wire.
It all works well, but you still have to be very careful. If one of the metal branches hits a stone or rock, it creates a spark that could cause a fire in dry branches. Therefore, you must be very careful in this regard.
In addition, you must be sure to wear sturdy shoes that cover your entire foot and long pants to protect yourself from stones or other objects that could be thrown by one of the metal branches.
Overall, this is a good choice considering that the metal wires should have a good lifespan based on regular use.
