Product description

The USW-Lite-8-PoE is a fully managed Layer 2 switch with eight Gigabit Ethernet ports for your RJ45 Ethernet devices. Four ports also offer auto-sensing 802.3at PoE+ that provide up to a total PoE wattage of 52W for UniFi Access Points or other PoE devices. Managed and configured by the UniFi Network Controller with UniFi mobile app support, the USW-Lite-8-PoE offers Layer 2 switching protocols and features. The UniFi Network Controller and mobile app allow admins to configure and monitor virtually all of the switch features in a graphical user interface from anywhere.

One has to pay a substantial premium to get this switch (USW-Lite-8-PoE) from this supplier, but at least one can get it! It's a genuine Ubiquiti product. If you have a Unifi system, this switch will adopt right in with no issues. And it dumps a LOT less heat than the older US-8-60W.

As of the date of this review, the official Ubiquiti store in Canada has been out of stock for months and won't even let you sign up to see when they come in. So if you need a Unifi 8 Port POE switch, this may be your best bet if you live in Canada.

Upon first attempt to adopt in UniFi, it will do a software update and then fail to adopt. You must remove it, do a factory reset using the hidden button for 10 seconds, and then start adoption again. It will then work. Gone through this process with 6+ of these units. Build quality and performance seems good afterwards. Runs at a modest temperature.

There are only 2 things I would change.
1. Integrate the transformer brick into the device. Power dongles suck.
