    This UP Security lock is simple to use with a settable 4 digit combination. The steel cable is encased in plastic so it does not scratch or mar anything you are using it to secure. It appears well made. It states it is waterproof, time will tell if it can continue to work properly when used outside.

    The seller's pictures are slightly different from the unit I received in a couple of non-significant ways: the case does not say UP Security nor is there a red dot on the "set" side of the slide switch. When you remove the unlocked zinc alloy head of the cable, it has a tendency to initially move towards the inner lip of the lock case which makes you think you have not unlocked it properly.

    Pros:

    This lock's a real chameleon. The 23.6-inch steel cable rope offers flexibility, allowing you to secure luggage, bikes, gates, cabinets, or anything that fits within the cable's reach.

    No need to worry about rain or shine. The lock is built to withstand the elements, making it a good choice for outdoor use.

    Things to Consider:

    As another reviewer mentioned, there are times that I can change the combination while it's still locked and the digits are not set to the unlock combination. I haven't figured out exactly what the steps are that let me sometimes change the code while it's locked, but that knowledge isn't super comforting.

    Now, keep in mind I'm not expecting this thing to be a fortress level security device. Anyone with even the most basic of tools could still steal your stuff, a normal wire cutters or even a pliers could probably cut through the wire loop fairly easily. It will keep the honest people out or perhaps stop a theft of opportunity (grab & run).

    Knowing all the things above would probably be true, did I still order the product... Yes. I'll trust it to keep my beach bag with magazines locked to my lounge chair, but it won't be protecting anything of actual value. You're going to get exactly what you pay for and nothing more with this item.

    I thought this looked like a neat little lock I could use so I ordered it. It is well built and the cable is coated so as not to damage what you want to lock up. The good ends there. I went to change the combination and that went well per the directions. I unlocked, moved the switch to set, and was able to change the combination, then push set back to the normal position. It locked and unlocked as it should. Unfortunately you can also change the button to set when the lock is locked, someone can change the combination, then turn the set switch back to normal, and oops the new combination works that someone just set. So I say no to this or the person wanting what you just locked up can change the combination while it is locked and just open it. Or, someone might think it funny to change your combination and relock it so when you returned, you could not open it. Sorry but this flaw needs to be fixed.
