My old switchable magnet quit working, and I’ve been looking for a replacement for the ground clam for my MiG welder. This one came up on sale, and I thought I’d give it a try.

It surpassed all expectations. Stuck well, forcing the ground pin into good contact for welding. Also, it was easy to remove(as long as you leave it a little over the edge). Very happy with this purchase

This is a really good magnetic welding ground. The magnet is good and strong. The spring could be a bit stiffer but it still functions exactly as it should. I do worry that the spring will break after much use but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Creates a good ground that is moveable to the area that you are working on.
Not something I will use all that often but good to have around when needed.

The product was shipped with no excessive or wasteful packaging. What’s in the box: one (1) 500AMP quick-release magnetic welding ground clamp.

First impressions: Compact. Powerful. Well-made. The magnet is held by a heavy-duty chromed steel cradle. The grounding clamp can easily be adjusted to any position in 360 degrees. The neodymium magnet is very strong and has excellent holding power. The grounding components are copper-coated steel and provide a sound path to ground. The magnetic ground is easily removed (with moderate force) and can be located conveniently anywhere on your piece of work. The unit has a high temperature resistance to demagnetization (660F), which will ensure a good service life for this product.

Since I am evaluating this product as part of the �鶹�� Vine program, I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. In order to determine long-term durability, I intend to monitor this product over the next 12 months. Should anything change over this period, I will update this review accordingly.

Magnetic grounding for welding applications. Made for applications where the ground clamp cannot be fastened to any readily available exposed metal. This magnetic welding group clamp can provide an easy to clamp, and close proximity ground location to the working area. Strong magnetic hold.

I am not a professional welder. I am still learning. And here is something I have learned recently. This magnetic welding clamp is an excellent accessory to have!

I am starting to learn about auto body welding. An art as much as a trades skill. At issue, is just where and how to clamp the ground, when you are in the middle of a large panel weld. Rather that trying to find a sheet metal edge somewhere close to where you are working, this device lets you ground much closer, and way easier!

As with any spring clamp, you do need to clean the area where the centre conducting screw on the magnetic clamp, will contact the sheet metal. After that, it's just a matter of placing the magnetic welding clamp over that cleaned spot. The magnetic will grab the sheet metal with an amazing amount of strength. In fact, with the "breaking arm", I doubt that many would actually get the magnet off the metal again! It's that strong an attachment!

Rather than actually wire the grounding clamp up, I just place the magnetic clamp where I want it, and then simply attach my standard grounding clamp to the wiring nose of the clamp. This is a brass U-shaped bracket that is about 1"X1" and makes for an easy attachment. Otherwise, I will have to make up a second ground cable, and I would rather not do that.

Bottom Line - A fast and easy way to attach your ground to variety of different surfaces. Solid and well build!

The spring that push the brass to the workpiece needs to be stiffer. Currently it does wobbling so easily and sometime the contact isn't as reliable. Also the nut easily unscrew itself as you use it.

I find it handy when you can sandwich magnet through workpiece and steel table and with the spring being stiffer adjusted it should be great.

This magnet provides a solid ground. The spring that pushes the ground lug feels a bit soft, but it does have enough pressure to maintain contact so I had no issues with the grounding. Magnet is very strong. There is a handle that lets you remove the magnet easily.
