Does this USB Switch must be plugged into an external power source to work?

No, this 4 ports USB 3.0 Switch is plug-and-play. Only the power-hungry devices (such as two 2.5”HDD / one 3.5" HDD) are connected it needs to be powered.
How to use this USB Switch to the computer only with USB C port?
