I was surprised that the clamp and connections of this gooseneck phone holder are all plastic. There are rubber pads where the phone attaches and the gooseneck is made from aluminium-magnesium alloy so can bend into a lot of positions.
The phone holder stretches in both directions, so it's hard to get the phone in. I'm used to the ones where you push the spring as the phone goes on until the phone reaches the other side. This one requires pushing the one side and and pulling the other side to get it on. There is no release button to take it off, so the phone has to be held with one hand while the phone holder spring is stretched with the other hand enough to release it.
The gooseneck is stiff and seems to stay where it's put, especially if you have a few twists and turns in it. It works okay if you are just using the phone to read a recipe or watch a video or show, but if you have to touch the screen at all, the phone bounces back and forth for a while after, which can be very dizzying.
The phone holder opens to about 9.0 cm (3.5") with the padding (where the phone goes), not 10 cm as described. The whole width of the holder when fully opened is 10 cm (3 15/16") across the outside, so it can't possibly be 10 cm inside.
I am not impressed with this phone holder. It will work in certain circumstances but I found it didn't work for what I was hoping to use it for.
Update (September 10, 2024): I ended up breaking my back after posting this review, and this phone holder has been a life saver for me, attached to my bed both at home and at the hospital. I got used to the bouncy-ness of it and am able to type while holding the phone loosely with the other hand, letting the holder to the heavy work of holding up the phone. It also works great for voice-to-text and video chats. Changed from 3* to 5*.
