I recently purchased this NVMe enclosure and have been very impressed with it so far. One of the key features for me was the support of modern Gen 4x4 NVMe SSDs, which provide both incredibly fast data transfer speeds and consistency of transer speeds, much faster than traditional external hard drives or USB flash drives (you could game on this if you'd like). I also appreciated that this enclosure uses a hinge design, rather than slide-in, which allows for better contact between the SSD, included thermal pad, and enclosure for improved heat dissipation (NVMe get hot).
TL;DR: I recently purchased an NVMe enclosure that supports fast Gen 4 SSDs. The aluminum case has a premium look and sturdy build. Setup was quick and easy - just unscrew the case, insert the SSD, and screw it back together. I formatted the drive in Disk Management. Though I lack a fast enough cable to test max speeds, the enclosure works great and I'm very impressed with it overall. This is a high quality NVMe enclosure that was easy to setup.
Inside the box, the enclosure itself comes neatly packaged along with a silicone protective case, which I appreciated as an extra measure to prevent scratches and add additional drop protection. Though I’ve seen Linus, of LinusTechTips, play basketball with an Intel SSD before and it survived. The aluminum construction feels sturdy and durable. The enclosure has a premium high-quality look and feel to it - a bit more bulky than a basic enclosure but the extra metal likely helps heat dissipation so the SSD doesn't get overly hot (flash storage doesn't mind being a bit hot, also if the enclosure is very warm to the touch that's not necesarily a bad thing).
Setup was quick and easy - I just had to unscrew the flathead screw (it's more like a flathead cross instead of philips), remove the holder with my fingers (no tool required), insert my MSI M450 Spatium SSD along with the holder piece at the same time, gently press the holder into place, apply the included thermal pad (peel the backing on both sides before applying), and screw the plate back down securely. I used a flathead screwdriver instead of the #1 Philips screwdriver included becuase I found it provided better fitment into the screw so as to not strip it. Finger tight will be more than enough though you could add some purple threadlocker for a semi-perminant installation.
Once assembled, I plugged it into my computer via the USB-C port, navigated to Disk Management within Windows right clicked the unallocated storage and formatted the drive as well as applied a file-system. I chose ExFat for wider compatibility of operating systems (Linux and MacOS)(NTFS was the other file-system option which is meant for Windows). After that brief set-up my new NVMe enclosure was ready to use. I can't attest to the raw speeds as I lack a fast enough cable.
