I needed some USB-C to A adapters for my MacBook, which only has USB-C ports. I’ve used Ugreen products in the past and found them to be solid, so I went with this 4-pack based on the brand and the USB 3.2, 10Gbps spec.

The adapters come in a small ziplock bag with each one individually bagged inside. They are compact and feel well built with a metal body. The size is perfect as 2 of them can fit side by side in a MacBook.

I tested them with an external SSD and USB-A cable, and compared them to the speeds with the same drive when plugged in directly via USB-C. Both measured around 7 Gbps, so there was little difference, and the specs on the adapters appear to be as claimed.

The adapters work perfectly. I don’t have any devices that go over 10Gbps, so I didn’t experience any issues or major performance differences when using these.

The only nitpick I have is that the fit of the USB-A socket is fairly tight. It takes a little more force than average to remove a plug from it. I didn’t run into any issue as a result of that, but it’s worth pointing out.
Because of this, I found it best to add or remove a plug from the adapter while it is not attached to the laptop or whatever other USB-C port you’re using it with.

Overall, these are well-functioning adapters, and having 4 of them is handy as I can keep a couple permanently attached to my most used devices. The current price for this 4-pack is a pretty good value as well.

Honestly, there is no long explanation needed for this item, because it's fairly straightforward. UGREEN has always made solid, fantastic, no-nonsense products, and this one is no exception. As you can tell, it's a USB-A to USB-C adapter with a metal enclosure. This, in my testing, just about worked everywhere with no fuss from my laptop to my phone (Samsung Galaxy S24+) to even on a PS5 for both DualSense Edge connection and USB stick for storage. You do have to be aware that even though it says "Thunderbolt 3/4 compatible", it doesn't mean it allows data transfer speeds up to their maximum because it's still limited to a USB3.2 Gen 2×1 (aka. USB 3.1) standard meaning it allows a theoretical max. speed of 10Gbps. If you're planning on making ultra fast data transfers, do make sure USB 3.1 won't be the bottleneck, but otherwise, for most "standard" applications, you should be fine. The adapter is rather narrow which works great for USB-C ports that are close to each other (especially on a laptop), and it's robust enough to feel like it'll last a while. At a price that roughly constitutes $4/adapter, I think these are about in-line with other USB-A to C adapters on the market. It's recommended!

Adapters come separately packed in their own baggies as well as a user guide. I would have expected a box of some sort to prevent the adapters from knocking into one another.

The adapter bodies are made of aluminum or some alloy with a nice finish that gives it a premium feel.

They easily convert a USB-C ported laptop/computer/device so you can connect a USB-A cable, or drive to the device. Companies are moving away from the slower USB-A ports for the faster/higher powered USB-C interface. This will allow you to use your older cables on newer adapters/computers. You may not see an increase in data/power throughput, but at least you’d still be able to use your older devices/cables.

It was able to convert an A to C cable into a USB-C connector so I could connect it to a newer & higher-powered USB-C power adapter without the need to plug in another adapter.

I tested the power throughput of the adapter and found connecting it to my charging cable to a 100W power adapter. I was able to get 7.45W (4.78V x 1.56A) using the USB-A port on the charger and a peak of 8.41W (4.78V x 1.76A) when using the UGREEN adapter on the same cable, but on the USB-C port on the power adapter. So, it was able to get a bit more amperage for a faster charge.

Testing the data throughput, I connected my external SSD drive to my laptop. With the drive directly connected to my laptop via the USB-A port, I was able to get a peak of approx. 269.22MB/s. Direct using its USB-C connection, a peak of approx. 448.29 MB/s. But I found that using the UGREEN A to C connector it was able to achieve 465.66MB/s, which was a bit funny as it was faster than the original test without the adapter. So, it looks like performance is not affected with the UBREEN adapter connected, or it actually improves performance, which is something I normally don’t see.

Overall, I’ve used UGREEN products before and they were always high quality, and these adapters are no different and the adapter performance was excellent. It provided increased amperage for faster charging as well as increased data speeds, so I would definitely recommend this set of converter adapters. You may not need it now, but I can guarantee you’re going to need them and would be good to have in your pack. At the time of this review, it was priced at $17.99 for the set with an available 10% off coupon, so a decent deal to ensure cable compatibility with as many power adapters & computers as possible.

We got these adapters because more and more laptops are coming with far more USB-C ports than USB-A ports, yet many of our devices have USB-A cables. What we liked the most about these adapters is their small size, as it was possible to have multiple of these adapters plugged into a single laptop without the adapters rubbing against one another. We haven't had any connection problems with these adapters, and when used for charging devices we have noticed that devices using these adapters charge at the same rate or faster than when we plug it directly into a USB-A port. Overall we are happy with the adapters.

Bought these so I could more easily make use of the various Lightning ports on my Mac Mini M4 with USB-A devices (mouse, keyboard, older iPhone data cable etc). It’s so easy now to plug in my iPhone XS (Lightning to USB-A) to any spare port and get it charging at the same time.
These adaptors are very slim so you can have them plugged in side-by-side without issue.
They are quite a snug fit around a USB-A plug, so I’d recommend pushing those in/out (using both hands) while the adaptor is not also plugged into the Mac (to avoid bending the port).
I’ve previously used a single Anker adaptor with multiple ports, plugged into one Lightning port of the Mac but that adaptor has limitations (only 5 Gbps data, no power charging for plugged in devices, slows down when multiple ports are used etc).
Overall, amazingly helpful adaptors and getting 4 in a pack is absolutely superb. Well done UGREEN!
