High-performance, outdoor, 2x2 MIMO, 802.11AC dual-band access point. Expand your Wi-Fi network outdoors with the UniFi® AC Mesh Access Point, part of the Ubiquiti Networks® UniFi Enterprise Wi-Fi System. The UAP-AC-M is a high-performance, outdoor, 2x2 MIMO, 802.11AC dual-band access point, capable of speeds of up to 1167 Mbps. It features two RP-SMA connectors, which can be used with the included dual-band omni-directional antennas, or with an optional connectorized dual-band antenna for customized pattern shaping.

    This is the second one we purchased, I have them in the front and back yard under the covered porches. Gives me solid signal 200ft away, because my indoor WIFI AP are Ubiquiti there is no transfer or Signal going indoors to outdoors so for example if you are playing a game, the game doesn't freeze and restart hen you walk outside.

    I have a Ubiquiti Edgerouter X, along with a Unifi Ap-AC-Lite, but had zero wifi signal to my backyard (older house with thick walls). Despite tweak the Ap-AC-Lite (increased transmit power, changed channels, etc), nothing seemed to work. Then I came across this add-on mesh AP unit. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to extend the wifi off my Ap-AC-Lite. Setup was straightforward, and you only need to plug in the POE port cable for it's power supply (no need to plug in the LAN for wireless connection). Also ensure that if you are connecting it thru another AP device, to configure that source AP device to allow mesh connections. Use the Unifi Controller software (not their mobile app), under config, Wireless Uplinks and enable "allow meshing to another access point", and then you should be able to see your UAP-AC-M unit wirelessly to adopt it into Unifi Controller for configuration. So far, so good as I'm getting excellent transfer speeds from my backyard, as I would sitting in the kitchen, and wife signals are rock solid steady.

    I had to jump into Raspberry Pie to fully utilize the system, and it was complicated. I understand it might because they are not really consumer grade products. But if the iOS app is as explicit and powerful as the Linux management software, I’m sure UniFi would attract so many more customers.

    They have all the nice softwares from planning to managing. So I can’t imagine they can’t build a better app for iOS.
    The physical build quality is distinguishably nicer to the touch comparing to TP-LINK products(costs more of course). The included accessories are very useful too.

    The community support system works for entry level nerds, but for the average household people, it’s a bit of work to resolve issues.

    Downloaded & installed the Unifi management server software. Adopted 3 APs. Set the SSID & a few other parts like RADIUS, guest wifi and threat detection.
    The setup of three APs and the software took about 40 mins.
    With the POE adapters already provided in the box I was able to run powered ethernet over some lengths of CAT6 to the three APs. All worked flawlessly first time and survived some pretty fierce storms. Continuous WIFI coverage across the whole property. Enterprise grade kit at home user prices.
