True Love Story
Audible Audiobook
– Unabridged
鶹
Growing up in an idealistic home, Sparrow Fisher is sheltered and innocent. When she meets Ian Sterling, a musician who is rising in popularity, she instantly falls for his charm. The attraction is instant, but their relationship isn't so simple.
At different places in their lives, Sparrow is off to college in New York, and Ian is traveling the country with the band. Over a five year span, Sparrow and Ian run into each other in unusual places. Each time, Sparrow has to decide if she can trust him, and if he feels the same for her. It’s hard to not get caught up in the magic they have together. Until something so devastating comes to light that threatens to shatter everything they’ve built with each other.
True Love Story is a story about the real highs and lows that come with a relationship - happiness, pain, angst - and finding out if love really is enough.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 18, 2021Verified PurchaseThis definitely the best grovel I have ever read. If you enjoy a good grovel, I highly recommend. The emotional upheaval that Sparrow and Ian goes through is an experience I will not soon forget.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 30, 2015Verified PurchaseI really enjoyed the book, I only wish it would have been longer..I love Ian's perseverance... And his letters...It truly is a True Love Story.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 16, 2020Verified PurchaseLove conquers all! What a beautiful story of love, trust, and being open to forgiveness! I recommend it without a doubt!
- Reviewed in Canada on May 1, 2013Verified PurchaseOh Ian, I love you but at the same time really wanted to hit you a lot in this book. Poor Sparrow and what you put her through at times made me scream...good thing you are a sexy rocker who has a good but misguided heart. Loved this book and their story.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 20, 2024A rock star who loves his fiance but finds out that he cheated. He loves her so much but does not realize what he did ended their relationship. He keeps trying to keep in touch and ask for forgiveness, trying to prove that he has changed.
It takes her years before she is willing to try again, and he knows that one fall will end it forever. He kept trying to keep in touch with her, and eventually they met accidentally at an airport going to the same city and from there, things ensued.
This is a great book on redemption and groveling, where the heroine does not forgive so easily but with proof.
I recommend reading it.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 20, 2019Loved this book! Ian and Sparrow encounter so many challenges that should make them run far away from each other but they cannot deny the intense chemistry overrides everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars I survived!!!!
Verified PurchaseWow! I think my heart is still in tact. I was supposed to be studying today, however, after dreaming about Sparrow and Ian last night (I was half way through the book when I went or bed) I had to finish it. My emotions have been well and truly played. Even though I was getting a little annoyed that Sparrow just couldn't let go (I know what Ian did was truly bad ... however ...). Anyway, finally I had my happy ending and am confident that Sparrow and Ian's love will last for eternity. Thank God!

4.0 out of 5 stars Intense and raw

Rating polemic books is hard. The cheating trope is a very difficult one and I will never cheer for the cheater. That said, I enjoy the angst, the drama, the anger. I’m a masochist reader sometimes 🤷🏻♀️
This story made me feel everything. I was in tune with Sparrow and her journey after the devastating news that I enjoyed the book so much.
Impossible to be indifferent. You can hate the trope, the guy, the epilogue, but you cannot not feel.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Love Story *^*
Verified PurchaseTrue Love Story is told in the first person point of view by our heroine,Sparrow,so the readers fully experience her most joyful days and the most agonizing ones through her eyes.Ian,our hero is really hot and not the most trusted guy of the world but he can definitely win Sparrow's and the readers' hearts with his grand gestures (I love the desserts he buys) and love letters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The angst of The Opportunist meets the quirky humor of Flat-Out Love!
Verified PurchaseThis book rocked my freaking world!!! FIVE HUGE stars!!
I'm going to try to give a proper review - without a lot of fangirl squealing and jumping up and down - but I just can't promise that I'll succeed! I really, REALLY loved this book!!
From the very first paragraph this book grabbed me by the heart and just
Wouldn't. Let. Go.
I was blown away by how deeply I felt Ian and Sparrow's connection right from the start - it can only be put down to the incredible writing of Willow Aster!! I still don't understand how she made me ache for their pain within moments of meeting them - but she did! Her words are magical, her storytelling is flawless, and her mastery at pulling out every emotion you can think of is superb!
One of my favorite things about this book is the quirky humor! I can't tell you how many times I literally laughed out loud! I just totally "get" Sparrow's sense of humor, it's pitch-perfect, and it's a BIG factor in my enjoyment of the book. My girl is funny! She totally cracks me up! For me, it was reminiscent of the humor in Jessica Park's Flat-Out Love (which is a BIG compliment from me - I L-O-V-E-D that book!!), very unexpected and quirky, but totally relatable.
I love the characters...So. Much. I want to live in their world, be their friend, comfort them in their pain, and rejoice in their triumphs. They feel so real to me! Within a few pages, I felt like I was inside Sparrow's head, I could understand what she was thinking and feeling, and even though I might have done some things differently, I completely believed every move she made. Her personality and thoughts were so well developed that several times I found myself thinking "That's so Sparrow!!" when she did or said something...like I knew her so well that I was struck by how "her" something was. She is also the first character I have ever read who loves food as much as I do - when her boyfriend is trying to have a serious discussion with her and, instead of paying attention, she's wondering why she agreed to share the dessert they're eating, I could totally relate! And Ian...oooohhhh, Ian!! I can't say too much about what I love about Ian Sterling without getting into spoilery areas...so suffice it to say that man made me feel EVERY emotion you can think of, and a couple for which I don't have a name! Then there is Tessa - everyone should have a best friend like Tessa - one who unwaveringly believes in you, unflinchingly tells you the truth (even when she knows you aren't going to like it), and is willing to go to the mat for you with zero hesitation...yeah - THAT kind of friend! And her adorable propensity for mixing up common sayings is completely endearing! I just wanted to HUG her so many times during this book!!
Ok - embarrassing confession time...I'm a book crier. Actually, I've also been know to cry often at movies, TV shows, musical productions, and the occasional commercial (though, I'm pretty sure that last one, at least, was only when I was pregnant)! But True Love Story put me through a complete emotional breakdown, the likes of which I have only ever experienced 4 previous times.
(That list, if you're curious, is:
1. I saw Robert Goulet in Camelot on my 16th birthday - I was still sobbing when my Dad got me backstage to meet him, and he kissed my cheek...*sigh*.
2. Miss Saigon - if you've seen it, no explanation is necessary.
3. and 4. were Delirium and The Opportunist - both of which I thought were stand alone books when I read them and their endings Tore. My. Heart. Out.)
Here's why True Love Story was different from all of those, and now claims the top spot on the "Forms of Entertainment that Made Me Cry" list: I have never, EVER, cried so hard, for so long, while still reading a book (rather than at the end)! I cried through a FULL FOUR chapters of this book! Not just sniffles and a tear or two...oh, noooooo - this was about 40 minutes of tears pouring down my face, nose running, occasional sobs escaping, UGLY crying!! (My husband actually came into the room to see if I was okay...because he could hear me from the living room!) And I read the majority of that section with my hands either: a.) Over my mouth (as though I could keep the pain from seeping out) or b.) Pressed to the sides of my face...fingers *almost* covering the corners of my eyes (like when you watch a horror movie and you want to be able to cover your eyes quickly if it gets to be too much). Even now, days after finishing it, I am moved to tears all over again when I think about it too long.
So, yeah...all that to say, if you love an angst-filled, emotional-whiplash-inducing book - this is as good as it gets! It's funny and devastating, sexy and deep, it has levels upon levels of sheer entertainment...and I loved Every. Single. Word.
I'm pretty proud of myself here - I think I've produced a largely coherent, interesting, non-spoilery review, with a minimum of crazed fangirl behaviour. BUT, that leaves me feeling that I haven't adequately expressed how much I love, love, LOVE this book...so here...this is what I really wanted to say:
OMIGOSH - this is the most amazing, incredible, heart-breaking, magical, holy-crap-everyone-HAS-to-read-this, book I HAVE EVER READ!!!! It's so good...sooooo stinking good...you just don't understand - you MUST read it!!! It's SO FUNNY, and HEARTBREAKING, and everything in between...it's just...EVERYTHING!! And the characters...I LOVE Sparrow, and Ian, and Tessa, and OMIGOSH - the writing is so mind-blowingly beautiful and clever, and gut-wrenching!!! I SWEAR you will LOVE it!!! GO. READ. IT. NOW!!!!!! Go!!! GOOOOOOO!!!!!
*SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!*
Ok - I feel much better having gotten that out! ;-) Now, go buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It has been a year, two months and seventeen days since I last saw him ….....
