Cheap and flimsy, are just okay for moving and acoustic treatment
This set of a dozen moving blankets was the best deal I could find on large blankets. I bought them not for moving but for a low-budget acoustic treatment of a room in lieu of spending hundreds more on a few pieces of acoustic foam. It is often recommended to use moving blankets for this purpose as you can cover a large expanse of wall for a relatively small amount of money compared to acoustic foam or panels. The construction of these blankets is quite cheap. They are made of a very flimsy and thin synthetic material that doesn't appear very durable. There are a few layers of this material with a bit of felt (it almost looks like black sock lint) sewn inside. Overall, these are thin and flimsy, so if you need extensive protection for some delicate furniture you are moving, you may want to double these up. Since I was hanging these on the walls of my home studio to reduce echo, I wanted them to look nice, but they came out of the box very creased and wrinkly. I tried ironing a corner on a medium to high setting, and it instantaneously melted the material into oblivion. I tried ironing at a very low setting, but that didn't budge any of the wrinkles. So ironing or flattening these out is tricky, and I decided that it wouldn't be worth the effort. Aesthetically, these aren't going to look great hanging on a wall, but I may try getting some thin material or curtains to hang over them. In terms of their acoustic performance, these are just okay. Hanging them on two walls of my studio certainly reduced echo and made it sound better here, but the difference wasn't as stark as I had hoped. I later added five homemade acoustic panels filled with 24" wide Rockwool, and that probably had a somewhat more significant impact. If you need a large number of big moving blankets and they don't need to last a long time (e.g., you're not a professional mover), these are a good deal. However, they may not be the ultimate solution for acoustic treatment or for heavy-duty use in protecting furniture while moving or packing a truck.

    These smell like an old barn filled with musty hay. We made sure we didn't let them touch any fabric when we moved, because we were concerned that the smell would transfer. We had to use other blankets to wrap the fabric couch and chair because the smell was so concerning. I didn't have time to find a new set of moving blankets before we moved, which is the only reason why I didn't just return them for a refund. The price per blanket was good, but the product was not worth the hassle of working around the smell.

    I do not recommend this product unless you are moving quickly, and only items with hard surfaces that can be cleaned later. Or, if you're moving something that already smells like a musty old barn then these could work. (/sarcasm)
