This is one of those things I never realized I needed until I found it. Moving tools from one place to another to do a quick job around the house has always been a little bit of a hassle for me. I generally use a small handmade tool carrier (just a small wood box thing with a handle), but even to work on the smallest of projects around the house it always fills up fast, leaving me to juggle a bunch of tools as I move to the project area on the other side of my home.
This bag is the perfect solution for this.
It’s super sturdy and clearly well-made. The stitching looks strong, and the fabric is almost like canvas - it’s really thick and durable. There are tons of pockets and compartments of all sizes, and I like that no two sides of this bag have the same layout of pockets and sizes of compartments. It makes it easy to locate what you’re looking for.
I immediately began filling it up with basic tools I’d need for jobs around the house. I keep a bunch of tools I have multiples of and would be needed for any job; a knife, pencil, marker, tape measurer, screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, flashlight, small level, drill bits, wrenches, chisel, tape, glue, 3M Velcro strips, electrical tape, plumbers tape, putty knife, etc. I also have a stock of fasteners - like different sizes of screws, nails, washers, cord clips, and drywall anchors - all tools and supplies that won’t be missed from my shop. This is now my dedicated “DIY Go-Bag,” and it’s ready for me whenever I need to hang a picture, fix a leaky faucet, patch a hole in the wall, or winter-proof my windows. All I need to do is grab the one or two tools I’d need for that particular job, like a power drill, pipe wrench, or caulk for example, and I’m ready for anything!
This bag has helped tremendously in making me more organized, because now I have a place to put all those tools I have multiples of and wouldn’t normally use; and it’s helped to make DIY jobs around the house feel more effortless, since I have mostly everything I’d need already packed and ready to go.
I know it may seem like overkill to some people, but for someone like me, who already has a full shop with large tool chests and no small, easy-to-move toolboxes, it’s a really helpful setup.
If I had to pick apart one aspect, I’d say the shoulder strap is a bit under-cooked. The buckles on the strap that connect it to the bag seem flimsy, and I’m not sure if they could hold the weight of this thing if it were fully-stocked. And the buckles on the bag are in a strange position (to me); they’re located on either side of the zipper, as opposed to the ends of the zipper in a traditional setup. It’s a weird design choice, because it means one end of the bag will be pulled closer to your body, while the other is pushed away. Maybe this is a common thing and I’ve just never seen it before now, but it doesn’t really hurt anything, so I didn’t subtract any stars for it.
I’m completely confident this tool bag will stand the test of time, and I definitely recommend it to anyone, from the average DIYer like me, to the professional.
