- Reviewed in Canada on May 11, 2025Verified PurchaseUnit will shut off if your finger isn’t on the switch. Good safety feature.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2025Verified PurchaseThere is not an on/off switch. You literally have to hold down a switch button for it to heat it up in order to make it work. By the time its warmed your hand is sore. As soon as you let it go it shuts off and cools down quickly. Product description did not mention this and said there is heating controls on it.
When I tried to return it, It says it’s non returnable !!!
( my box was damaged and taped so maybe it was a returned item)
- Reviewed in Canada on May 8, 2024Verified PurchaseLove this item. It covers a large area and the heat is very nice. The best thing is the on/off switch - you hold the switch so if you fall asleep the heating pad will turn off once your finger falls off the switch. Would recommend to anyone.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 20, 2019Verified PurchaseI love it so far, so glad I sprung for this product over any of the less expensive options. The quality is undeniable, and the coverage you get from a heating pad this size is worth every penny. Recommended to be by an RMT friend who has had the same model since graduating from college over 10 years ago, still works great. We used these same pads in the spa I used to manage.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 2, 2014Verified PurchaseI ordered this to replace the exact same one that I have been using nightly for 6 years. These work 10x better than any standard heating pad so if you suffer from aches and pains or sore muscles, this thermophore is pure heaven. Definitely worht the money - just make sure to lay the cord loosely on the thermophore when its cooled and gently roll it up - do not roll thermophore up and then wrap cord around it (like many women do with curling irons) as that will shorten its life due to cord damage. :)
- Reviewed in Canada on November 14, 2024Verified PurchaseThere is only one button on the remote and you have to hold it down in order to make it work. It takes a while to warm so your hand is tired before it's even warm. As soon as you let it go it shuts off and cools down quickly. Product description did not mention this and said there is heating controls on it.
First two times it only got slightly warm the third time it got really hot.
( my box was damaged and taped so maybe it was a returned item)
- Reviewed in Canada on June 13, 2025Verified PurchaseWhy does my new unit say made in China? This is an American company and my old unit says “made in the USA “.
the website now says “assembled in the USA “ .
Their Canadian website says “made in Canada “
I’m not sure I have a genuine product and that concerns me. There is no contact us email for thermophore or Battle Creek. So far it’s working like magic however.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 1, 2017Verified PurchaseMy wife is a massage therapist and I bought this for her to use at work. She explained to me that this thermaphore works amazing. She couldn't really go into detail because of the confidentiality of her patients but she said there have been no complaints of overheating/burning and that the thermaphore does what it's supposed to do.
Price was reasonable and shipping was fast as always. It came in undamaged also. I would recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this, it's the best freaking heating pad you'll ever own.
Verified PurchaseFirst of all, I'll explain my pain history:
I'm 33, female and significantly overweight. That being said, ever since I got my first job when I was 18, which was standing at a register, I've had back pain. I've learned to deal with it better, but it's pretty much always there. Fast forward to 2009 when I moved and started sleeping on a different mattress. No matter what I did, my back would hurt between my shoulders when I slept flat. This went to sleeping on the couch for about a year, and then finally going back to bed and sleeping on an incline, since it was the only position that didn't hurt between my shoulders. Later on, it would hurt my lower back sleeping in that position. Sleeping on my side still hurts after a while between my shoulders. Fast forward again to April 2016 when I began to lose weight. Of course losing the weight helped with my back, and I also became a runner. Running hurt my back and my hips, but, I figured it was just my posture as I ran, but it hurt to run upright, if that makes sense. Imagine running looking at your feet, it's like that. September of 2017 I, admittedly, was trying to do too much. I was cooking dinner, and exercising and decided I'd go on a quick run around the neighborhood while the chicken was cooking. I fell and broke my fifth metacarpal in my left hand, got road rash on my left knee and bumped my head on the concrete. Needless to say, I was out of running commission for quite a while. I haven't really ran since, and it's December of 2017 as I write this. That being said, I believe me going from exercising/running 3-5 times a week, to absolutely nothing and being a couch potato weakened my back muscles greatly. This all came to a head around October or so. I decided to bite the bullet and see a chiropractor. The first one never took x-rays and didn't ease my pain. The current chiropractor I'm seeing also does acupuncture and all natural remedies. After the first acupuncture experience, I seemed to get a pulled muscle in my back around my right rib cage area. It hurt to take deep breaths. Sounds simple, don't take deep breaths, but, I found if I take shallow breaths constantly, my body naturally wants me to take a deep breath every so often. Which would make my muscle tighten very hard and be very painful. The chiropractor suggested this heating pad for me, as it's a moist heating pad and not like the dry one I did have.
Now that we're up to date, I had a horrible, no good, very bad day about a week ago where I awoke at 4am, lower back in horrible pain. Took some ibuprofen but it takes about an hour to work. I realized also upon waking up that from me using a very old heating pad on one spot on my back where the pulled muscle was, that I now had a burn mark there as well as a sore muscle. I had an appointment with my chiropractor that morning at 8am. I didn't get back to sleep until 6am and needless to say, I looked the part of being sleep deprived and in pain. As I was walking out the door, I noticed I got this in the mail.
When I got off of work, I came home and laid on it on the couch and went to sleep. It has taken a few days, but I can say that this heating pad has been my main source of comfort in my back ache horror story as of late. It helps to really heal those muscles from the outside. So much so that I don't really need the heating pad until the middle of the night and in the mornings. I feel as I go on, I, hopefully, won't need it anymore except on the odd occasion I do have a pulled muscle.
I recommend getting this heating pad, if anything, just to have it in case of emergency. People are right when they say that they keep an extra one just so they don't have to go without.
In the manual/instructions it says not to lay on it. I do lay on it, and granted it's only been 5 days since I've owned the thing (yes, it's worked it's magic that fast) but, I can tell you right now, with my back issues, if I were to wake in the middle of the night in the kind of horrible pain I have had before, there is no way I could be able to lay on my stomach and pull this thing on my back. Plus, I can't sleep that way anyway. I leave it on my bed right under where my body lays and just hold the clicker in my hand all night so if I do awake in pain, I can kind of give myself heat blasts until the pain subsides. The clicker was a worry to begin with. But, as the manual says, it's a deep heat therapy and you shouldn't need this kind of heat on you for longer than 30 minutes. I can't even do a full minute, as it gets too hot for me, and I have to let it cool down. But it does heat fast and hot, and does it's job if you let it.
This heating pad is not only going to help me, but also help my chiropractor do her job. I was so tense before this, that she couldn't pop my back for fear of injuring me further. Buy this, if you're going to buy ANY heating pad.

1.0 out of 5 stars DOA
Verified PurchaseThis item was dead on arrival. Some times a product is bad and I understand. I wanted to exchange the product but they said all they could do was return it. Fine, I'll get my money and buy a new one. I only received 75% of what I paid return. I received an email from the company telling me what my refund would be. I responded to the email and asked why they were with holding 25% with no response. A few weeks later by chance I received an email about a product in my checkout basket on line. I explained the issue and got me the rest of my money back. I have purchased at least a 1/2 dozen of these heating pads in the last 30 years. 1/2 were for personal use in our family and the rest gifts to family members. Everyone loved them and they lasted along time. Overall, the quality has declined over the years. Our existing one was good but not as good as the first one we bought. The manufacturing has moved from the USA to China and I noticed that they have a USA model which is still Chinese parts assembled in the USA so still a Chinese built heating pad. The unit I returned seemed very flimsy. I didn't weigh my existing pad and the new one but I would say the new pad weighted about 1/2 less than my older one. That weight is important in helping the pad lay flat where you want it. The new pad came packaged in a box slightly thick but 1/3 the length of the older box. That probably explains why it is lighter and flimsier. I bought another manufactures product. I would have loved to buy this one and even pay more for a quality product but understandably they are trying to compete on price.
