Far superior to a thermometer I bought retail for twice the price (and then returned. because I could not actually open the battery compartment.)     I've tried cheaper thermometers, but this one is a real quality item. The build quality is solid. It turns on automatically when you rotate open the probe, you can stick it on metal because it has a magnetic side, it has a back light which makes it easy to read, its battery lasts a long time, and it's apparently waterproof. That seems to be a lot for my money. My cheap thermometer broke, and I tried gluing it back together. This one seems so sturdy I doubt it will break. Wish I'd just bought it first.
