I’ve got this router delivered today and was inpatient to set it up and see what it can do. I picked it for my secondary location for setting up bridge site to site, so VPN is very important for my use case. Just for context I'm a home lab enthusiast and have a fairly solid infrastructure, though nothing like those guys on YT.
Why does this matter? Well my expectations are high so I apologize for any negativity you might find in this review.

As you can imagine from my intro, obviously my enthusiasm was quickly deflated after seeing the very basic UI and disappointing absence of advanced features. Here I’m not referring to basic routing and WiFi - that works just fine but for example my key feature - VPN. This router has only ancient PPTP VPN which is insecure and rare nowadays. I don’t understand why in the year 2025 this is not OpenVPN, WireGuard or similar popular solutions which are free and work very stable and secure.
Then if you put on that need for DDNS, yes this router supports it but you’ll need to register with an external provider like noip.com. Why not have a solution like Asus which handles DDNS internally and automatically takes care of port forwarding.
Ok, DDNS is no big deal, a few clicks and there you have it but then you hit a snag when you need to port forward it internally to the router because the router will run PPTP VPN server and you can’t because UI doesn’t allow you to point to itself. I’ll leave this aside for now as I’m thinking, maybe they covered this internally if a request comes outside hitting port 1723 (default port for PPTP) so there is no need for an explicit forward. This is possible but I can’t test it as that would mean I have to open PPoE passthrough from this router to my gateway and I don’t want to break my core network for this test, but this is very likely the case. I’ll try it on my secondary place once I’m there and set up proper PPoE.

So yes, I don’t see any advanced features that would convince me that this router is much better than those that you get from ISP. Pretty same thing, except this one allegedly supports WiFi 7. Though this is also questionable as I don’t see 6 GHz band (only 2.4 and 5) but on the flip side, I also see 802.11/be - which is WiFi 7 standard.
I’m under the impression that this is some hybrid, not fully compliant WiFi 7 because according to my quick research you can’t have WiFi 7 without 6 GHz band. Also, my Proxmox server has WiFi 7 antennas (which I typically shut off because I have a fast ethernet network) and for this test I saw that it is registered as WiFi 6. I mean, I don’t care too much as WiFi in my world is only for phones and tablets, but I know that you might care about this if you plan to use WiFi and throughput matters to you.

Router doesn’t even have a speed test so I can check the backbone connection with my gateway (currently using DHCP), but my package is 3 Gbps fiber.
When I initiate WiFi test from client, I’ve got:
DL: 740 Mbps
UL: 540 Mbps
Setup: Tenda Router and receiving antenna (WiFi 7) in very close proximity, 2 m away from each other

And test from phone:
DL: 348 Mbps
UL: 559 Mbps
Phone is Samsung S21 supporting WiFi 6

Conclusion: Very basic router compellingly similar to those that you get from ISP. No advanced features like security, logs, monitoring tools, even speed test and normal VPN server. However, if you just need to replace the ISP router or just want to keep your configuration intact when the provider resets and you lose your config, then this router might be an alternative. I saw the price went down from 230$ to now, with a 70$ discount 109.99$ (at a time of order). Given 100-ish $ price, I think this is fair for what I observed but not a cent more than that. For 100-ish $ I’ll rate it 4 stars as for that price you really can’t get much more and this router definitely delivers basic functionality.

I’ve been using the Tenda BE3600 WiFi 7 router for a few weeks now, and honestly, I didn’t expect to be this impressed—especially for the price. I picked it up for under $140 with a coupon, and it’s proven to be a serious upgrade to my home network.

Right out of the box, the setup was a breeze. The Tenda app guided me through the process in under 10 minutes. One feature I didn’t expect to love as much as I did? NFC tap-to-connect. It’s actually useful—my friends just tapped their phones to the router to connect, no passwords needed.

The vertical design caught my eye too. It has a modern, sculptural vibe that looks good enough to sit out in the open (though it still slightly reminds me of a mini air purifier). Functionally, the upright stance helps with heat dissipation, keeping performance stable even under heavy use.

I bought this mainly for my work-from-home setup, streaming in 4K, and some casual gaming. It’s been rock solid across two floors and even into the garage. My old router used to drop out in the basement, but with the BE3600’s five fixed high-gain antennas and built-in amplifiers, I now get full-speed performance everywhere I need it.

Even though most of my devices are still on WiFi 6, the jump to WiFi 7 has already made a difference. My 5GHz speeds are now regularly hitting 600–700 Mbps, and I even transferred a multi-gigabyte file between two floors at 60+ MB/s sustained speeds—something I couldn’t do with my previous setup.

Some of the features I use daily include the dual-band WiFi 7 for faster speeds and future-proofing, 3x Gigabit LAN/WAN ports—perfect for my NAS, console, and streaming box, and parental controls that actually work—easy to set screen time and content filters. There's also VPN support, currently PPTP/L2TP, with OpenVPN support coming in May 2025, and the ability to switch between router and access point modes, which I tested with zero hassle.

That said, there are a few limitations. It only has gigabit ports, so if you have 2.5Gbps+ internet or a high-speed NAS, this might bottleneck you. The build quality is a bit plasticky—lightweight, not flimsy, but you’ll notice it. And while the admin interface is pretty basic, the app covers most needs.

For the price, this router punches way above its weight. It’s got WiFi 7 speeds, great range, modern convenience features like NFC pairing, and an intuitive app experience. This is excellent. The router's range is quite good and I was able to get coverage throughout my house. The router was easy to set up and I liked the NFC connection feature that made it really easy for guests to connect. Most of my devices aren't wifi 7 but it didn't have any problems with backwards compatibility to all of my devices.

Works great with other wifi routers, this is a powerful central node for others to mesh off of. Saying that though, I think I can cut out one of my mesh routers since this thing's signal coverage is great! I'm in a two-story house and can detect this router's wifi network stronger than I could from the old wifi 6 router that I was using. Very nice improvement to any home network.

Connect the ethernet cable from LAN/WAN out on the modem into the router then the PC into router. Go to the router login and you're good to go.

Got an extra 10Mps on the desktop out of the box when wired to router rather than to the modem. Wi-Fi speeds have been fast and stable too.

No complaints.

Set this tenda be3600 up in under ten minutes, mostly spent deciding where to stand it. The vertical case keeps it cool and frees shelf space, and those five antennas push a solid signal to every corner of the house.

The 5 ghz band maxes out my gigabit line, nfc let guests join without me reading off passwords, and the app’s pause button means dinner is finally screen-free. 2 weeks in, no drops, no reboots; i’m impressed and sticking with five stars.

This Tenda router has definitely upped my Wi-Fi game in terms of raw speed. Streaming 4K video on multiple devices simultaneously is now a breeze, something that consistently caused buffering with my older router. The setup process was surprisingly painless; I connected it, downloaded the app, and within fifteen minutes, I was online. I appreciate the vertical design, it's more space-saving than my previous, bulky router. The parental controls are a plus, and it's nice to have the added security features built-in. I've been using the Tenda BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 Router for about a week now, and it's been working flawlessly. I can easily get a strong signal anywhere in my five-bedroom house, even through the sections that have internal brick walls.

Setting up this router was one of the easiest experiences I've ever had. All I needed to do was wire it up to the internet, connect to the router via Wi-Fi, and it pretty much handled the rest on its own. After a couple of clicks, I was good to go.

I've owned a lot of Tenda networking products over the years, and they've always been reliable, so I'm really pleased to see they've become so simple to use as well. I haven't tested it with a Wi-Fi 7 device yet, but my Wi-Fi 6 laptop is performing perfectly. Highly recommended.
